I flew out of Istanbul on the 4th of November having come into to the city for the Marathon. Retired to Poland so was heading back home. Frustrated with LOT as got to airport early and was checking a bag so needed to wait for gate to open. They opened two hours before flight and I wanted to use the IGA International lounge for lunch. Did not have much time for the lounge after security and passport control. Did get a nice fast meal and a beer. Next time use that lounge. The lounge was really nice. My mistake not mapping everything out first as it took me a minute to find the lounge and than watching screen for when to head to my gate. Left for my gate and did not know it was what I would seemed like 2kms away. Very large airport and lesson learned for new airport is to review the map. So used to other airports I travel to and became complacent on not looking at an airport map. Note the Poznan and Warsaw (both) lounges are not very big but have a decent selection of items. I had a good breakfast in Warsaw before my flight to Istanbul.

Recently flew the A350 EWR-IST connecting with an overnight layover to Varna Bulgaria. I disagree with Noel's interpretation of the Turkish Business Class lounge at IST -- the various food stations make for satisfying options, and even though the lounge was busy when there it wan't overcrowded with adequate seating. I agree however that the service with Turkish can be somewhat robotic (but food, amenities and seat comfort are good. Most importantly there is reasonable award seat availability through Star Alliance (AC, making for a high value-for-money experience. And compared to the old planes (which I experienced on the IST-JNB route about eight years ago) it's a joy to have an individual pod (this time in middle section because I was travelling with my wife. The earlier flight was a pain with 2-2-2 seating (I was at the window) -- making for awkward step-over experiences when I needed to go to the loo mid-flight.

Great video Noel! I have a few observations. 1 Turkish Airlines still seems overrated for what it is especially based off your experience today. 2 Connecting in Istanbul IST Airport seems like a bit of a mess especially with no transit train in more than a 7 mile terminal it’s very far to walk and I imagine hard if you’ve got a handicap or walking issue as Paul Lucas pointed out when he flew Turkish from IST. 3 I love how the people react when you’re not dressed up all fancy!
What a shame Turkish has some issues because overall it seemed really pretty good and I still hope to fly them someday! They’re on my list especially in their beautiful A350-900 suites in Business Class! IF I CAN AFFORD IT!

Great video Noel. As someone who lives in Seattle, I can tell you that Turkish Airlines in the past few years started flying out of Seattle to Istanbul (both as a stop over to other destinations & on its own. While we are on the subject of the Seattle area, one new airport that you should try to fly into next time you are thinking about flying up here for a future video is Paine Field which is located in the suburb of Everett about a 30 minutes north of Seattle right next to the Boeing plant. It is smaller & less crowded than SeaTac as Alaska is the only airline that is currently using it (though there is room for expansion for other airlines to fly out of there.

turkish airlines is a disaster, I was on the route to Phuket from EDI, in Istanbul there was a deley about 4 hours, during the night. one the way back was strange set uo on the gate, everyone was checked- tickets, security and passport control, even I was through the security before. service was ok but not worth the price I've paid. I've been traveling with other airlines and all of them were better by miles. not to mentions when I jumped on my ryanair flight to belfast I was surprised how much leg room I have. turkish is a big no no for me

How many times around the world have you flown, and how many times to the moon Would love to see your globe from that app.
I'm not yet to the moon, and i've been tracking my flights on a different app since 2010.
EDIT - no amenity kits available in the UK merch store this week or last. (much like my flight on Virgin this week.

Have flown Turkish in business on 777, 787 and A350. Seats more comfortable on 777 though open and less private. Seats on 787 and A350 ok but less comfortable. I have found Turkish fares about 20 % cheaper than most carriers for trans Atlantic flights with usually equal or better soft product. Istanbul somewhat chaotic to transfer but beats Heathrow, CDG or Frankfurt. Never had issue with seating at Istanbul lounge.

I flew TK back in June MAN-IST-CMB. I flew business class, and whilst it was a good product I didn't think it was as good as AF, KL, UA or DL. I also won't make the mistake of connecting through IST again - the terminal is too large for its own good and you could be in for a ton of walking so you better make sure your connection time is long enough. I would only fly TK if my final destination was Istanbul.

The food options hold tremendous variation and are indeed plentiful. We are US based and Turkish is our favorite airline and the Turkish lounge in Istanbul is also my favorite! I didn’t see a loo review on the 350. Did I miss it

1: 42 this happened to me in Stockholm with SAS. I was booked in Plus Pro and this is business class at SAS. The staff yelled at me GO BACK INTO THE OTHER LINE. and I was like I have booked business class. Response: this is priority lane.
Then I visited the SAS lounge and the lounge staffers asked everyone How is business doing Did business come back Long time no travel It was strange.

Another great video Noel excellent job. I’m curious to find out if you’ll be home for Thanksgiving a huge American holiday. , it would be nice to see more of Istanbul airport. It looks very nice. I got a laugh out of the way the ticket agent checked you in Oslo. No no I’m flying in economy. I just thought I’d stand in this line for kicks.

When I was living in Israel I had to have a layover in Istanbul flying back from Germany, it was the absolute worst experience of my life because they detained me for hours since I didn't have a visa even though I kept trying to explain to them I had zero interest in going into their country and was just transiting on my way to Israel

I do like the videos of Mr Philips. I just think he should show more of his surroundings at the airports and cities he is traveling throught.
Instead of constantly filming himself on closeups.
Maybe if patrons start complaining this fact he would start listening.

Not one if your better videos. It came across as very negative. The snarky comment right at the start put me off 'That's why I am standing in the business queue'. Believe it or not, people do stand in the wrong queue, either deliberately, or by accident. Maybe you should take lessons in 'smart casual but comfy' from Dennis Bunnick

- No Loo review
- No good view upon the food on the plane or in the lounge(s)
- No good view upon your hotelroom
Overal, take your time a bit more to snap those moments buddy, we do like to see everything instead of sometimes quick 0. 5 second shots.

Once again another sensational adventure. I've flown Turkish before but never in business or first or an A350. Everyone says its a great plane. I love the mish mash of your adventures. I have flown Turkish often in the past nine years, always in economy. I flew BOS-IST-TRN most recently. The crew was nice and the food was decent. I was surprised to hear about the fire in the IGA Lounge. My wife and I spent quite a bit of time there this summer as we transited through IST on multiple occasions.

Not sure that I agree with you regarding the IGA lounge in Istanbul. I was last there in August and it was absolutely jammed. They seem to sell entry to thousands of people and as a result there was no food or drink and nearly impossible to get a seat. The Turkish Airlines lounge was much better.

'I do have wine of draft which is nice'. damn man, wine on draft is the worst. As a wine enthousiast I can tell you that wine on draft is not what you really want. If possible, always out of a bottle, please, and if possible, get a good bottle too; ); ) hehehe. Thanks for the video though!
