Dixie hikes the Smith Mountain Alpine Trail in the Dadeville, Alabama area. Vincent: Have you ever heard of the Great Eastern Trail (GET) I know it starts somewhere in Alabama (Conecuh National Park) and ends in New York. The site is greateasterntrail dot net From what I understand it is only a few years old and not marked very well. But, it is definitely less crowded than the AT; although, it covers part of the AT.

Planning my trip for the AT 2017. Thanks for the inspiration. Maybe we can meet-up on a hike some day. I reserved the domain justanotherhiker. com when I start journaling about it. Right now its just pointed to the new gear store I am starting to build. I am truly planning on living this life for the rest of my days.

If you're still looking for trails around Alabama, you might look at Swayback Bridge trails. There's about 12 miles of trails, not a ton of views, but it does sit next to Lake Jordan so there are a few. I've done em several times & it's always a fun time.

This is one of my favorite places to go when I visit Lake Martin. There's nothing like sailing over to the foot of the mountain, picking up the trail to the top, lingering a while before heading back down for a swim and an evening sail back to camp.

What AllTrails app did you use? The only two I could find (for iPhone) were My Trails (4 star review) and another one that had a 2 star review so I skipped that one. Good to see you are enjoying the outdoors more than ever.
