I thought I remembered Fl had garage hills that were taller then their high point and the state had them reduce the height because they did not want a garbage hill being the tallest point. When I lived in MI they turned their garbage dump hill into a ski resort for the winter.

at the viera wetlands if you had took that dirt rd. about 8 miles further west you would have come to moccasin hammock preservation area that abuts the st. johns river, really nice offroad bike trails. I take my dog their in winter for long, long bike hikes.

As a Fla native, Sugarloaf Mtn near Clermont is only 312 ft but is more of a hill than Lakewood. While elevation is usually the attention grabber, prominence or distance from the peak vertically to the contour surrounding area is what really counts.

wow glad you did not get a nose bleed being up that high. Just kidding. Anyway glad you had fun here in my back yard. By the way some of the best parts of the Florida trail are here in the panhandle. Glad you kept up the videos after the AT hike.

I liked your song crossing the Suwanee. We always sing when we cross it too, and I even do a solo when I am alone.
How can anybody cross the Suwanee and NOT sing?

Viera wetlands is an awesome place to visit! I have been there several times and you always see different wildlife. Great place to work on walking miles.

I am a beach person. Sand fleas make good bait for pompano, which are extremely tasty. The water looked great too! The KSC is a must see when you are out that way.

Nice view from the land. Looks like you might be ready to branch out and try some overnights on the water. Careful though, it can be as addictive as the trail.
