How I Overcame Plantar Fasciitis on the Trail lamfilipos: There are a few suggestions to try
Try one of the natural remedies for plantar foot. Something as simple as ginger root, which can be found at your local grocery shop, is a good anti-inflammatory. Ginger root is in a group of plants known as Cox inhibitors. That means they prevent inflammation naturally.
Another good remedy for pain is Bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme got from pineapples. If you drink the raw juice or eat raw pineapple, you can gt advantage from the properties of Bromelain. This is natural healing at its very best.
(I learned these and more ideas from fergs foot formula website )

I've seen a lot of videos of other hikers displaying their food choices, and they're eating a lot of sugar and a lot of flour on the trail, too much gluten. Believe it or not, that is highly inflammatory. I had problems with plantar fasciitis and it went away when I cut back on gluten and sugar, you don't have to give it up completely, just cut back a little.

I have to leave in a few weeks for morocco and will be walking a lot there & then hiking in another country in june and have tendonitis in both feet, the pain meds help a lot but without them its rough. Would love any input of anyone you know who deals with tendonitis and hiking!

The foot brace at night is key. If your foot isn't 90 degrees while sleeping, your first step in the morning will undo all the healing from the night before. Wearing vibram toes shoes will strengthen the foot because the issue comes from heel strikes and you won't be doing that with vibrams.

I always carry a lightweight aluminium water bottle on longer hikes so I can roll my feet on it several times a day. Keep it filled with water & leave out overnight or dunk it in a cold stream first helps with the massage. Nothing beats a good cold bottle roll: )

I'm a freshman in high school and I want to hike the trail one day. Whether it is after high school graduation or college I don't care. I really really really want to do it. I want to reach my Uncle's record or doing it in 3 months, I want so much with this trail

Hello! Great advice in this video. The keys to fixing plantar fasciitis are:
a) rest your feet regularly
b) avoid completely flat shoes and very high heels
c) invest in podiatrist-recommended shoes that have been properly fitted to your foot.

Oh my God that would suck big time. I had PF one year and I could barely stand getting out of bed, had to crawl to the bathroom a few times before seeking out the cause and finding a solution! I think your travels are interesting. Keep up the great work

Dixie,
Now that you have hiked the AT and PCT what else have you learned about Plantar Fasciatis and can you explain the Zero drop shoes to us? Are they good for people with Plantar Fasciatis or not? What is the point of Zero Drop Shoes?
