The 2024 Genesis G70 Gets More Power Standard, But Otherwise The Changes Are Minor 2024 G70 Review

If you want a new second-generation G70 you have some time to save your pennies because 2024 is a mild refresh with some exterior and interior tweaks and a new base engine. Aside from that, it's the same G70 you loved or hated before. The big deal for 2024 of course is the new base engine. It's a 2. 5L four-cylinder turbo borrowed from the larger G80. Thanks to the larger displacement it's now one of the most power base engines in the segment at 300 HP and 311 lb-ft. Performance from the optional twin-turbo V6 is still better, but you might be surprised to hear that the V6 is unchanged. Yep, it's still the same 3. 3L V6, not the newer 3. 5L V6 from the G80 and G90. Why no upgrade Genesis wouldn't say. I have the 2023 3. 3T RWD and am LOVING it. I'm coming from a 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia which I LOVED, but it proved unreliable from the getgo (I bought it new. I don't have the patience to deal with Euro cars and their electrical gremlins so I traded it in for the G70. I have driven this car cross country a few times and have put A LOT of miles on it in the past year, and it has been BULLETPROOF on top of being a joy to drive. The only small complaint I have is that the gas mileage while driving in the city is abysmal. But I rectified this by keeping it in Eco mode when I'm running errands and then putting it in Sport when I need to get on the freeway. I also get as many compliments on this car as I did the Alfa; they nailed the styling when they did the '22 refresh.

No way this car is 4. 2 seconds 0-60; I had a 2019 3. 3 and it was more like 4. 7 or 4. 8 give or take. Not really that fast (against it's 6 cyl competition. Having owned one for 3 years, my advice would be to get the 2. 5 liter, 300 hp, it is a cracking engine, the 3. 3 is not really worth it; plus - and nobody mentions this - the 3. 3 requires spark plugs every 60 you'll need to get the heads walnut blasted since it's just DI. That is $$$ on this car. The 2. 5 is BOTH port and direct-injected, and ergo proctor hoc, they entire cylinder stays clean, no nasty buildup like DI. Eg, if you use top tier gas and run cleaners like seafoam every once in a while, you should be good to go. Not so with the 3. 3. Service and cleaning on the 3. 3 is money. IKFE.

Great review! I love my 2023 3. 3 - for the money, the best choice. However, the seats are much firmer than I realized at first, and don't support my back as well as the Audi A5 or BMW. The G80 has better seats (still too firm - but less so. Also - regarding the dealer - I am next to a dedicated dealership. I am extremely impressed. As good or better than Audi and BMW.

Nice review. I was actually looking at the Lexus IS (but no power folding mirrors, no trunk release button on the trunk and no sunglass compartment up by the dome lites. Now proud owner of a 2. 5 sport prestige in the Makalu grey. It has the red stitching but not the quilted pattern the 3. 3 has.

No, I don’t think the design has aged well. The design was meh when it arrived and it is at best meh now. I used to see a fair number of them when it first arrived, but I rarely see them lately.

I do like the G70. I wish Genesis would have offered this with the size and liftback style of its former platform mate, the Stinger. The added room would make this vehicle more appealing.

I hear a lot of mixed reviews on the G70. Some say it's a modern day E46 from the Gods, other say it leans and is too soft and overhyped. Curious to drive one myself to see what's what.

Alex. you have the qualities to become a sought after male model.
Please give it some serious consideration.
Take the first step and see where it leads ya. why not

I am shocked how much more roomier is a Honda civic type r or an Acura type s is in comparison. If Honda was to make a rwd sedan with Civic dimensions it would be a winner!

So cool. I would take this over pretty much everything in the competition. I wonder if I would take a Subaru WRX over this for the better AWD. What is the AWD system like in this

Infiniti Q50 had base V6.
Might not have a big LCD tv in the dashboard and ridiculous touch controls.
Still front mid engine and amazing to drive

I like the RWD for its agility and purity, but there seem much rare to find. What do you guys think of RWD vs AWD 2. 5T Handling Fun Maintenance cost

The average American wants one of these in their garage like they want a plate of bacon in their microwave; very much so, apparently.

Doesn’t Lexus offer the IS, ES and LS Small, medium and Large. Although the ES is targeting a different buyer compared to the G80
