The best selling three-row crossover in America is getting some serious changes for 2019. First off, its going back to RWD like Explorers of yore. Second, its getting a brand-new hybrid system with honest-to-goodness towing ability over 5, 000 pounds. Next theres an available 365 horsepower model or a 400 horsepower ST trim with a track pack. Yes, a track pack in a Ford Explorer. The interior has become more premium (and controversial. The only downside? The cargo area is a bit smaller than 2019. This I can forgive

Starting to think about our next SUV purchase in 2020 or 2021. I was excited to see the new Explorer but after watching this and others Im just kind of. meh. Its fine, but theres really nothing compelling about it (unless you must have 400+ hp in a three-row soft roader. The styling especially is just so bland. After seeing all the upcoming 3-row options, I think the Hyundai Palisade looks like the best overall package and a bet itll be a great value. I love the Lincoln Aviator too but I suspect the desired options will drive it up to around 70k and Im just not paying that for a family hauler.

Hey Alex: . I had my partner who is in the market for the NEW SANTA FE Ultimate, or Limited come look at this video because he use to drive the rear drive explorer with the 4X4 option and I stopped the video on the Dash view and I asked him what he thought. He said Did they not have ANY IDEAS and JUST STUCK the Screen right in the Middle of the Dash. I laughed so hard when he said that. It does look kind of out of place. Curious for the full reviews.

Mr. Alex, your auto reviews videos are absolutely amazing Im getting rid of my 2016 Grand Cherokee for the 2020 Explorer. I really like that ford is finally putting so much technology in this SUV. This Explorer reminds me of everything I like about the Volvo XC90 (but much more affordable. My favorite part about this new SUV is the Co-pilot 360 with adaptive cruise (Stop and Go) and the lane centering. Well done Ford

I really dont understand why they made this rear wheel drive, for the hybrid in particular. I feel like no one is buying hybrid for towing stuff. The prime market for hybrid SUVs are families who dont want a minivan. I would never be able to drive this thing in the Midwest. Id be sliding all over the place in the winter.

Which mean fwd. Didnt make the desired profit. Thats why ford deside to make it rwd suv. Sorry we dont like fwd. Its for ladies only. Mercedes made fwd sedans and i hope they rust and no body buy it. I hope ford bring another rwd sedan. The Lincoln contenintal is a piece of garbage sold at high retail price and fwd.

Great video, as always. The new 2020 Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility vehicle should have some interesting numbers. Id like to replace the wifes little Chevy with a mid-size hybrid SUV in a few years. Looking forward to the reviews of the new Blazer too.

I like the front end, but the dash and rear lights are hideous. Can they not learn a trick from Jeep and Dodge. I find the rear lights on both the current Grand Cherokee and Durango to be some of the nicest rears on SUVs in decades

Until you use it you wont understand the interior design. For vehicle use portrait layout touchscreen is far more useful than a landscape. Might take some getting used but once you are using it youll see its usefullness

Its main competition will be the jeep grand cherokee and toyota highlander. The durango is likely gonna be discontinued or reverted back to a body on frame largescale SUV to compete with the expedition and yukon

I look forward to seeing the full drive reviews I hope you get to test at least the 2. 3 and the 3. 3 HEV because I will see either/or in the company fleet in the next year or so. The ST would be great too.
