I agree with you on the three point turn complaint with the manual, I drive a manual MK6 Jetta TDI, and my god, doing three point turns disengaging reverse and going into first multiple times, its absolutely aggravating, especially when theres cars waiting for you to complete it and it keeps sticking into first despite the fact youre pushing it down, or when youre not pushing at all but its still going into reverse. argh

I own a 2018 Elantra Sport. The new 2019 looks like shit. Everyone in the forums always makes fun of the looks. What the hell was hyundai thinking? The front end has pizza slices for headlights and the rear is so boring to look at. Google 2017-18 Elantra Sport and then compare it to this POS. What a step backwards. My car looks like a knock off Audi A3. This new one looks like someone was drunk while designing a car.

SI has a lsd standard unlike this Elantra. Also Hyundai just killed off its manual so this car is dead to me now. Cant believe how ugly they made the exterior on this now. Its the GLI and SI as your only two choices for a proper sports sedan in this segment. Alex single handily trying to kill the, manual transmission. As always he wants an automatic/dct. Faster does not mean better or more fun

the reason for the fugly refresh is to make the cars similar to their upper siblings as in the new 2020 Sonata. they re all doing it. Also, the non sport trims of the Elantra are a better car overall. For some reason the build quality of the sport feels rickety and vibrations abound. Its seems not as solid a car as the other trims. And all of these cheap DCTs among all the MFGs are junk

Great review as always Alex. Im a Hyundai fan but I think they completely botched the exterior redesign with the refresh which is one of the worst of any car I can remember from recent memory (maybe the 2019 Chevy Camaro SS could go in that bucket too. Im not sure what they were thinking with those sharp headlights. This thing is not going to age well.

QUESTION: If the cabin noise is average for this segment, then how does it get an A-? Wouldnt average be more in the C range -- which would place it near the center of a normal distribution (bell-shaped-curve) for this class of car? I mean, average cannot be in the A category by any definition that Im aware of. Thanks.

I personally think Hyundai ruined the styling, especially the wheels compared to the previous Sport, that had some of the nicest wheels at any price. The awkward and diverse angular design features front and rear, not to mention the huge Lexus like grill are inexcusable. At least it is still an outstanding value though.

Alex, there is an exterior trunk release button. You press the H on the trunk. Not the H itself, but the sheet metal above the horizontal bar on the H. Its weird, but that is where it is. You missed it, bro. I love your reviews. You are among the very best, if not the best, but you missed that little detail.

This facelift should not have been a facelift. The body of previous model stands in stark contrast to the new bits; the geometry is so wildly different. As an all new body style this could have been really great. Too bad its a band-aid, half baked situation for now. Still a generally good car though.
