Please be careful with the new trucks that are 5 years old or less. If you plug in a Modual while the battery is in you might fry the what your installing or something else will go bad. I don’t work on to many cars and trucks but I learned the hard way after fixing a Mack truck. All I was trying to do was replace a fog lamp and I tapped it to the bumper to test it and it blew the module that controlled all the lights. I talked to the engineer and he said you should have disconnected power for 30 minutes before replacing cause there sensative. Can you believe that a 50$ fog light turned in to 700$ module minus the price of laber and programming. Because it wasn’t instructed in the manual the procedure

I agree with reading through the process. I wanted to update the amplifier calibration on my wife's old 2008 SRX and after update, it still didn't work! Well, then I read the fine print at the end of the procedure to update the calibration - it says you have to run the setup program, as well. Whoops! Did that, took 5 seconds, and it worked perfectly after that.

Why why why does the brake thingy need to be programmed to the specific car to work In the year 2030, we will have to send cars to the dealer to reprogram when we want to change the radio station. It could be and should be designed to just plug it in and it just works. Somehow a light bulb can do this, so I am sure a brake thing could be made that way too.

I have read (don't remember the source) that you should power your phone down and restart it. Supposedly it does some housekeeping when it reboots. I think the article said every few days or once per week. I can not vouch for the reliability of the source, however; I've never heard of hurting one's phone by cycling it.

Eric, who makes the RBR socket set Also, who makes the half size larger sockets for lug nuts. Ran into the swollen two piece lug nuts on a Ford my mother in law owns. I had to drive the socket onto the lugs and pry the lugs out of the socket. I remember you using them but not the video name.

Had a Merc that I pulled the neg lead off to get rid of a mystery mil light that would just keep flipping the light on for the life of me I could not figure out why it kept doing it, the battery reset was the very last option but as in your case it worked. Don't ya just love modern cars eh!

Our 2024 Chevy colorado work truck supposedly had a reprogrammed body control module after that there was a Permanent code for it that could not be erased this was after the dealer supposedly installed a new Purge valve solenoid that failed in 45 miles of owning the truck for work.

the oldest trick in the book have you tried turning it off and then on again and it applies universally to ANYthing with a computer chip in it, it seems. especially if something stays on continuously. I'm still doing this to a video game console. hush up, I'm over fifty.

The fact that i did this same module on the same truck a few weeks ago and waited for the module for a month and was in the same boat with no codes and the light was on. So i kept sayin to unhook the battery like you could hear me and havent already finished the job

For some reason I doubt it will be the last time we see this one again, man almost had me saying I told you so, but knowing how they communicate I guarantee that ECM is probably faulty ish. Any I won't try and simplify or explain. Cheers, glad you posted this follow up.

Good, ole, CTL, ALT, DEL. It was funny watching early hybrid F1 cars quit in the middle of the track and start working again after a power recycle. Turn it off, wait X seconds and turn it back on. Not a problem on my 1996 Dodge Turbo Diesel.

When these strange electronic things happen, it's always software/firmware, i. e. a bug in the code. Years of experience designing hardware which needed programming (firmware/softwawe) by others, it was never the hardware at fault.

Thanks - that was pretty weird. I
did notice that, when you cut on the key but not start, the CEL stayed on. Isn't it supposed to go off, just as a check to make sure that light can be turned on/off The ECU must have hickuped.

Manufacturers these days are trying their best to weed out repair shops like ours, the newer vehicles are fast becoming disposable units. so I think when that day arrives I'll switch my business to a recycling facility lol

Actually this is one of the very best videos. It is so important to actually hear that you don't know but go ahead and work your way through possible causes for the issue. Things don't always go smoothly. Great video!

I want a vehicle that doesn't need to be unplugged to reset the go fasters. Or in this case a light! Good find, I would rather an old square body, you know reset only when you start it! lol! Thanks for the video, well done!

Happy Passover.
I sealed modules under my trucks in plastic bag with WD 40 and silica gel beads to preserve them.
Long Island NY bay ocean salt water and road salt.
Gonna get some of those Matco rbt sockets.
