You've warned against Dorman parking brake cables several times. I installed some Dorman cables on my truck a few years ago, but it turned out that my parking brakes themselves were not working. I live in a salt-free environment, and the truck doesn't get much use, so the Dorman cables lived there under the truck with nothing to cause them to corrode. I was out of town for a while and my neighbor who uses my truck called and said it wouldn't start. I had it towed to a mechanic to fix the start problem, and asked him to take care of the parking brakes while he had it there. He replaced the shoes, but said that the parking cables were completely rusted in the cable sheath and there was no way they would ever come free. So, I have beautiful new parking brake shoes and no way to activate them. I'd buy new cables, but only Friggin' Dorman makes them. Bastids.

This was an easy peasy job! Loosen a few bolts, lift this, move that, and there they are! Remove and replace! Put it all back together, test it, then shut the hood - job well done! Now it's time to write up the bill and stick it to the customer for this simple easy job! No shop supplies used except for the catch all diapers! That grueling back breaking exhausting labor charge gets you all the time! A few more of these jobs and Mrs. O. will have that diamond ring with a rock on it the size of a disco ball just a sparkling away with light reflection beams! What husbands do for their wife - love is grand! Well done Eric, thanks for the tips and tricks! On to the next one!

A word of caution and a quick tip!
Caution! In the event your customer decides to ever just change the offending solenoid. the factory service manual INCORRECTLY LABELS THEM. A TSB came out that talks about the opps they did in the diagrahm. Make sure your info is up to date.
Quick Tip. All 3 solenoids can easily be changed with a long extension and long pliers from under the car. The first one i did as seen in his video. After that i have done all of them now in minutes without removing anything from under the car.
Keep on wrenching!

Ok, I am starting to think car designers and engineers who build these things need a good kick up the backside from reality. Where you need to remove 1/2 the engine to replace a part that they KNOW is going to fail at 100, 000 or 200, 000 km or so. Gone are the days when you could fit a family of 4 under the bonnet with room for a grand piano. Now you cant even swing a cat under there.

Eric, I did this without removing any of that, you can access it from the back and run a long ratchet extension and to unplug it, just use a long screwdriver and push it away lol. You can also do it from under the car with a long extension and likewise with the connector, they are a pain to press but with a flat screwdriver it comes off.

In a somewhat recent video I saw you using what appeared to be the Autel MK908 scan tool. We are looking for a few scan tools for our small shop and were wondering what you thought of this tool. Anyway, I will wait for your response off the air. LOL and keep the great videos coming please. We all enjoy them very much.

The aisin VVT solenoids are only 29 on rock auto. Replaced all 3 on my 13' altima after it kept stalling at idle. The top one is easy to replace from the top. the bottom two I removed front passenger wheel and replaced from bottom using a couple extensions with 10 mm socket and some long angled pliers.

I forgot to mention there is a TSB where they say that the vvt for the intake & exhaust solenoids are mislabeled, refer to the TSB for proper component. The one to the back and middle are mislabeled but I don't remember if that is applicable for this year of the altimas.

Sooooo common on the altima/rogue 2. 5 that when you see the code just replace the solonoid. Out of the hundreds and hundreds of these we've done, 2 have been bad cam phasers. Nissan pays bugger all to replace them so no Nissan tech is removing that engine mount
