I bring you along the process of replacing the upper control arms and outer tie rod ends with the brand kryptonite (#notasponsor) on a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The customer supplied the parts and I just bolted them on so don't ask me what I think of them or how I feel about them or anything about Kryptonite parts in general cuz I don't know

For the record the squeak and clunks are cleared up and it rides amazingly smooth, and yes typically the control arms are 475 but I was able to grab them as returns for 350. Not exactly cheap but I m not much of a bar goer and no kids so gotta have something to blow money on! Plus if they make it another 120k without another front end revamp I ll be happy, and with the bolt in ball joints I shouldn t have to pay for a future alignment. Also I get the vibe I should swing by dunkin and grab some coffee to drop off or something next time I am in the area.

I wonder where in the installation instructions, or as a former coworker of mine called them, The Manufacturer's Recommendations, it tells you to do all the electronic programming and resets that Eric O pointed out near the end of this video! Ya Right! Good Luck With That!
Thankyou Mrs. O for being the referee by preventing blood loss amongst the three youngsters and of course their 4 legged buddy!
Hope the alignment went great! Or will there be a vidjo on the alignment of the aftermarket super duper parts? HMMMMMM!

The only noise my 06 Silverado ever makes sounds like a flock of birds chirping. That's how I know the top front shock nuts are loose or to replace the shocks. No need to have scheduled maintenance, the birds serve as a reminder. Otherwise, it's superbly quiet. I do clean the entire underside yearly and hose it down with a light mineral oil based product. I don't live in a rust prone area, for clarification.

I have done many of these upper control arms with the original strut and spring in it is faster and easier to remove the strut to remove those upper bolts because they seas and brake with the OEM springs and struts in there there s no room you end up having to pry the spraying in different positions to pull them out I always order new bolts and cams just in case if I don t need them I return them

Working at a dealership when the new truck generation came out, we found many noise concerns as a result of level kits and aftermarket shocks. The upper plate would rub and make noise, especially with metal spacers above the shock. Larger spacers on the stock shocks greatly reduced the life of the shock they became noisy and started leaking within 30-50k miles. Just a tip for all.

Think I'll stick with my square body GMs and leave the fancy 'lectric steering to the kids.
As for the 'zip tie' mounting of the brake hose and ABS wire. WTH? You would think with ALL the fancy-schmancy packaging their R&D dept. could have figured out how to utilize the stock bracket. SMH.

I m a little surprised that you take the customer word that it is upper control arms making noise. Where I m from (Poland) shaker plates are very common and for few bucks you can see (or feel if you touch it) almost any play under load. Not that new UCA are a bad thing. Good video as always.

Dab of blue locktite on upper balljoint bolts. Stainless steel zip ties on ABS. Plastic ones (project Farm demonstrates Harbor Freight ones are best) get brittle in winter, will break I wish you did a test drive before fix to verify complaint. Still great teaching. Craig

OEM rant.
There has to be a more durable undercoating protection process from the factory so those in the rust belt can get more than 5 years out a new vehicle before the frame and underside components get completely trashed.
As always, great vid!

This owner has spent some good money on his front end. Fox shocks and Kryptonite suspension. Kryptonite is a good company their tie rods are no JOKE on the heavy-duty GM trucks. Very beefy tie rods makes the stock tie rods look like toothpicks.
