In a previous video I had a look at a Buick Roadmaster that had no high beams and no brake lights. I diagnosed it as a burnt connector and a bad switch. Let's swap it out and see if it works

2: 04 the way we did those turn signal switches at the GM dealership I worked at I would unpin the wires from the terminal after either cutting the old and off, or make a chart if I had to reuse it. I'd take the ends together after pulling out the plastic guide strip and attatch a piece of coat hanger wire to the bundled end. Then I'd pull the old switch out, tape the new switch wire end to the coat hanger wire, guide it down in place, repin the connector, plug it in, and reinstall everything that was removed.

under dash repair and testing step 1) remove front seats.
on that one it may have been easier and better since you had two switches, to just pull the column and chuck it in a vice. just sayin. youre the one entertaining us! did one in a camaro it was 15 minute out and 15 minutes back in and was a good thing because the bolts in the tilt assembly were junk one broken one loose.

Well done Eric - a great video. Having spent over two hours upside down stuck between the dashboard and seat of an old Jaguar trying to remove burnt wires and broken plastic, I completely commiserate! It was a succesful outcome, but my neck still hurts. Many thanks and a great job.

I thought you said you have been burned on solder seal connectors? and yes I have 1, 000's of them here and use them all the time on low power connections only, never on anything that draws amperage like what you just finished and quite well I might add.

Eric, what about using your fiber optic camera to snake up there to give a better look for you and us? : )

Re: solder vs crimp. The industry has moved towards crimps because of the human error on solder joints; it's far more difficult to do a bad job crimping. I think in your specific case, Eric, you're good either way. so take that, haters: )

Here's a suggestion for your message: I cannot provide a diagnosis for your particular vehicle issue. My videos provide diagnostic techniques and procedures so that you can Do It Yourself. If I can do it, you can do it.

EvA?
You might have an easier time with strippers that have the stripping knives out past the rivet. This allows you to get the strippers in tighter spaces.
Fun time working standing on your head!

You should have named yourself Eric O - Greatest American Hero. With a flying suit and cape, but no instruction manual. Of course your suit would have a Napa sponsor logo.
