Some Jobs Are Just Too Easy Ed: The Testa tape referred to we called it Friction tape, or cloth tape, it was used in the day of knob and tube wiring for exposed splices before the plastic tape was popular. Along with brake lines that are so subject to corrosion due to salt, very important to the safety of an auto, so is wiring. Why in this same thought process is wire insulation not manufactured of a product that rodents would not like to eat? So many safety systems are built into autos because operators that are not inclined to think. Many times I believe the engineers can't, won't or are not allowed to think.

Those theta engines had a defect in the rod bearings lubrication causing engines to seize. Hyundai/Kia blame debris left behind from manufacturing defects, ie shavings. My 2015 sonata had the knock detector update so they could detect worn bearings and go into limp mode before seizing.

Quick question what does a ny state inspection consist of. What type of things are looked for. Here in Wisconsin we just need an emissions inspection every 3 years. In short they plug in to obdi and look at some codes and data. 15 minutes and your done

My wife often complains I'm bleeding all over the place after coming in from working on something or another. She's usually quite surprised I can bleed and not know it. I tell her it's only a little of my precious bodily fluids leaking out. ;-)

Mice don't like moth balls and dryer sheets. If you put lye on the wiring, they get it on their feet and will lick them clean. Mice don't regurgitate and the lye will kill them.
Good eye Mr. O, you saw the problem right away.

On these engines, check the fuel line feeding the high pressure pump on the top of the engine. They've had a problem leaking and catching fire. I saw two of these Sonatas burned back to the rear hatch in the salvage yard.

I can relate to both the mices and the unknown blood sources. Shop vac'd a family of mice from and Audi today, and filled my rubber latex gloves with blood. No mice were harmed, just scared. mouse-turd less. ;)

No one makes me bleed my own blood!
I used the 10mm socket tape roll 'hack' yesterday. But I used a 3/8 socket being as I was working on MURICAN iron! So I guess you can learn stuff on the interwebs.

We purchased a used 2015 Kia Sedona. Kia replaced our engine, no cost. They stand behind their product. (We purchased from a Ford dealer. Had a lifter noise. Kia gave us a loaner while we waited)

Tessa is all i use these days. it's cheaper on Amazon in a 5 roll. They also make hi temp for engine bay use, but it's probably the same shit with a coating. The regular stuff works fine.
