Sell your car for free with Carwow: It’s time for some EXTREME off-roading! We’ve got our hands on a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, a Land Rover Defender 90 & an INEOS Grenadier, and they’re about to go head-to-head on one of the muddiest off-road courses we’ve ever driven on! The cars will be taking on several challenges, from an off-road drag race to testing their abilities to crossing rutted pathways and driving up super steep hills, and we’re about to find out which of these three is a must-have for tackling the muddiest of off-road courses. So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the Jeep, it’s powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo that can deliver 272hp and 400Nm. It comes with four-wheel drive and costs around 62, 500. Alongside it, we have the Defender, which is equipped with a 3-litre straight-six turbo diesel that can put down 300hp and 650Nm of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and costs around 68, 000. Finally, we have the INEOS. It’s housing a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet, and this produces 249hp and 550Nm. It also comes with all-wheel drive, and it’s the most expensive car here, costing around 76, 000. All cars come with tech to help with off-roading, such as high & low range mode, as well as lockable diffs. The question is, which will triumph over this series of tasks You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Definitely proves that a Land Rover doesn't work. which is a feature.
The Jeep is a Jeep thing as an ex owner of of an XJ. I'd like for the Jeep.
I'd never (also the only brand of true offroader I've never wanted to go nealy, but going from am an amcredubality lucurious vehicle. at a good price. Wasn't keen when I was told that I'd need ten grand in the bank st any time for the range Rover to be safe. that and it used 17. 9m/100km. on the highway.
It is a a very true aaying, if you want to go into the outback. Landrover (Jeeo is the same now. you could go wherever you want in Australia's outback.
If you'd like to make home. you get a Landcruiser, or Prado or Hilux.

Stop complaining about the tires, these vehicles are specced the way they are. You want me to buy a very expensive suv, and then spend another $$$ on tires just to match a cheaper, more basic SUV that already came with proper tires These tires are a compromise, balancing comfort & off-road, these manufacturers chose the tires that are on them now, changing them will make it unfair to those that were properly equipped to begin with.

These offroad trials are my favorite CarWow videos. The drag races are a little foregone in terms of conclusion, since most of the time the results can be mostly predicted by power to weight ratio and age of car, (due to technology, rather than driver skill. These offroad trials are a lot more varied and interesting, the car does not necessarily determine the overall winner and the presenters seem to have a lot more fun.

I wish this kind of videos are sponsored somehow by a tyre brand or something, so the video starts at the tyre shop, all three cars get the same brand/model tyre with their respective sizes, and then arrive at the offroad track. It'd make a great and informative video while equalising the tyres. Also, muddy offroad videos with road tyres are fun, but meaningless and s#%t tbh

Wrangler is the best off-roader period. It’s lighter, so it can get through mud and ruts better. It can articulate better with a solid front axle and electronic sway bar disconnects. The newest model has more ground clearance than either of these. And you can get a 6. 4L Hemi for about the same price as those other two.

03: 55 and you’re in the short wheel base Landy too, not the long wheel base that would more closely match the size and weight of the Jeep and Ineos! Oh how the mighty have fallen! 05: 17 even with the lane change proving that one lane has a disadvantage over another- the Ineos was still better than the Landy!

Matt, why do you bother doing off-road reviews without Can you please prioritize all-terrain tires for all vehicles going forward This way, we can make a fair comparison. ridiculous. It’s like having 100 meter runner. Try and do the run in ballerina shoes. !

Considering you can get a Jeep for a quarter of the price of the other two in the U. S, there's no wonder they sell them as quick as they can make them. Single handedly keeping Stellantis afloat. Don't change wrangler. don't change.

If id just bought a go anywhere Defender it would now be barrelling its way back through the showroom windows and i would tell the insurance it wasn't my fault, the car had seen a picture of some mud and went off on it's own

Okay, we didn't learn much from this video. Discussing off-roading without mentioning the tires is a big mistake. In order to properly compare the cars, it would have been a minimum requirement to equip them with the same tires.

Doing this test on a wet rainy nasty clay mud like this is just a joke. Too bad you couldn't have done it on a dryer day without the mud problems. The cars would not have been so embarrassed then.
reply

We have almost the exact same Rubicon though I've modded mine a bit with a slight lift etc. I've not got it in good mud yet but in snow up here in far northern New England in the US it's been great.
reply

Not a very balanced test due to tyres if all vehicles where on the same or nearest equivalent. And I find it funny the inios which was ment to be cheaper than the defender is not lol.
reply

Can we get this same video but with the Porsche, Aston Martin, and Bentley got off road converted sports cars That would be more power and more spinnys. Oughta make good content
reply

Get the tyre chat, but for me the main question is why are they comparing the 3 door defender with larger competitors seems like an obvious miss Entertaining video though.
reply

ineos clearly won, the defender 110 would not have kept with the other two but even the 90 was having a hard time keeping up and the jeep only had advantage because of the tires.

Sam Sam Sam. Matt some thing just crossed my mind. Why not Carwow invite 888mf Mark as a guest driver one day. For a Drag Race. Off road. Landy All Day Long Each Day Every Day. .
reply

think a Ford Bronco would be a car that fits this trio of vehicles for offroad testing (queue jokes about they tried to get one by they were all broken jokes)
reply

I think you should test other cars in this track too rather than old one.
This track is far more complicated and can test the car to the fullest

reply

These videos just go to show, how little people know about these cars! Very poor show on their understanding of the functions of each vehicle.
