Sell your car for free with Carwow: This is a drag race you didn’t know you needed Until today! We’ve got Mat in the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, and it’s about to go head-to-head against a Lamborghini Aventador SV! So let’s see how these two speedsters compare. Starting with the Hyundai, it’s powered by two electric motors that can produce 650hp and 770Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and naturally being an EV, it’s pretty heavy, tipping the scales at 2, 235kg. However, considering the amount of power, it’s relatively cheap, costing just 65, 000. Then alongside it, we have the mighty Lambo. It’s powered by a 6. 5-litre naturally-aspirated V12, and this can produce 750hp and 690Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and it’s a whole lot lighter than the IONIQ, weighing in at 1, 525kg. It’s a whole lot more expensive though, costing from 238, 000! The Lambo has more power, so will it be a walkover Or will electric power prevail against this supercar There’s only one way to find out LET’S RACE!

They just put out the most popular fun car.
In 2019, when they decided to develop the electric N, they already started by building a rolling lab for an 800-horsepower quad-motor hatchback.
Technically, it's already very easy to beat a supercar. However, not all electric cars that were fast in a straight line could run on the track due to overheating issues.
What is surprising about the 5N is that the brakes and battery do not overheat even after two laps of the 20km Nur, and the battery remains at 50%.
So what Hyundai has created is a technological base that is not only faster than an internal combustion engine, but can also dominate on the track.
Many people may think Hyundai has finally caught up, but they don't care about supercars. That market is very small, and most supercar companies are very small.
Companies like Ferrari and Lamborghini can't beat Hyundai.
Hyundai can already destroy all supercars with its current technology.
But the technology they want is much further ahead than that.
Many people laughed at the virtual sound of this car, but what they created was not low-quality virtual sound.
What they created is a technology that simulates the powertrain of the N, an internal combustion engine with a 4-cylinder 8-speed DCT.
Hyundai has developed the basis of technology to simulate the engines, transmissions, and sounds of F1 cars and muscle cars, as well as cars from the past that are no longer audible due to Euro regulations, by loading them with a single button.
Increasing the sound quality will be a very easy task.

The looks, the sound, the exuberance, the feel. That Lambo is so good in so many ways.
I'm sure there was another car in this vid but who cares
About the only thing I don't like on that Hyundai is the boost button. Why I have a throttle pedal. If its on the floor I want all the power. That and having a million modes to set up.
On the other hand there's nothing there to get me exited. Its fast but so is sitting in the back of a 747. As an experience its only difference to other ev's is that manual mode - something that probably adds quite a bit to it on a decent road. The reason that isn't the great star in the sky is because there are millions of combustion cars which are cheaper, more involving and much more interesting.
Even something like an MX-5 is going to be a lot more enjoyable down some B-roads for the weekend and its a lot less likely to get you a ticket while doing it.

What I find so annoying about all of these EV vs Insert ICE car drag races is they are presented as if the EV is at a disadvantage. EV’s of all shapes and sizes DOMINATE acceleration tests as it flexes almost every performance advantage an electric motor has over ICE. The point EV’s are now the acceleration standard and benchmark, not ICE. Be impressed when an ICE car wins or is even competitive regardless of the brand or status.

I mean. The Lambo wins in looks, sound, speed and handling. But I am way closer to be able to afford buying and maintaining a Hyundai Ioniq 5N, than I am to be able to afford a V12 Lambo Aventador SV. And I can transport my stuff stuff and kids in it. The IONIQ 5N is a car. The Lambo is a toy or a status symbol for rich folks.
While I love the Lambo, I am living in average guy reality. Therefor the Hyundai is very valid.

This Ioniq is the only electric vehicle I would purchase. I love everything about it, from the color, the design, features and price! However, there is only one place to charge an electric vehicle in my city and not many places between the larger cities, there are very few electric vehicles here.

Lamborghini all day over the RC car.
All the fake noise and speakers on an EV cannot make up for the sound and visceral feel of an ICE car. Yes, the Hyundai is quick but the entire driving experience is a simulation. The Lamborghini sounds and drives like a beast, because it is a beast.

I find it very weird you haven't done a review of this car yet Matt, and the first time you send it against a lambo, get it up against all the rest of the competing 60k EVs. Hyundai won't be able to keep up with orders after you've done a detailed review . (No I don't own one)
reply

This hyundai hasn't been serviced by hyundai idiot dealers yet. The coolant level is still where it needs to be.
Took my Ioniq for servicing few years back, had to suck out brake fluid and coolant because they had them maxed out. Will never buy hyundai again in my life.

Thank you for demonstrating what would happen if you ever saw a $900, 000 Lamborghini in your $75, 000 Hyundai.
Who else remembers when the most expensive Lambo you could get was $400k and the most expensive Hyundai was $35k, man times have changed.

reply

what a pure eargasm missile that Aventador is, but i have to say, Hyundai really have found whats missing in EV interacting with the vehicle i would happily have that Ioniq 5 what an amazing family car thank you, the drag race we never knew we needed!
reply

I know that svj drives better, but nothing beats the sound of those prefacelifted aventadors
Ik the exhaust isnt standard. even standard for standard og aventadors still sounds better than Ss or SVJs

reply

Remember. In 8-10 years on the batteries go, that hyundai is dead. I can almost guarantee in 50 yars time, even if a engine rebuilt is needed, that aventador will always be owned and working.

More electric junk! Thumbs down this shizz guys make them understand we ain't interested in electric junk, it's the only way to keep the petrol! Quit supporting these videos
reply

Yiannis reaction to the first launch he did proves that hybridisation of super/hyper cars may make them quicker, but it's definitely less smiles per mile for sure
reply

Thank you mr. Lamborghini sales man, that is a very nice car! But I need to go and test the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N before I make my decision Said no one ever!
reply

Got smashed Matthew! Combustion vs electric with immediate power. Hyundai or any electric car will never have that visceral emotion! Well done Yanni!
reply

I have to say how Hyundai simulated gear changes and redline is pretty epic. It’d be awesome if you could select V12 F1 for engine sound lol.
reply

You hear the Lambo change gear about 13 times during the first drag race. Stop F'in around cutting/editing it to death and just run the race, punks.
reply

I don't car shit that the toaster is pretty quick. Even it was quicker. It simply is boring.
Same old making the steak in the microwave joke.

reply

I would have the Ioniq if they can upload the sound of that Lambo into it. I could live with the 0. 4s difference to the 1/4 mile.
