New Audi S3 review: Better than an M340i

I've got a Vorsprung Saloon about a month ago replacing an 2014 S3. I've been disjointed with it, plastics and interior feel cheaper, new car feels bigger and less nimble, I have rage at all the annoying bongs of assistants of modern cars or you have to waste time disabling tehm every time you start the engine. And lots annoying little things, you can't open the door slightly while parking to see where the line/curbs are as won't select drive, the rear window overlap the boot gutter so you can't easily remove any leaves etc that drop in. The screen is at an angle so that you see reflections from the sun roof, shiny black plastic that picks up finger prints. Auto head lights that turn on way too early whatever the setting. A much worse turning circle,
I don't like the new badge, it sort of looks like the badge has been stolen in the early 90s with VWs. And the alloys don't fit fill the wheel wells enough, or it needs to be lower still.

The prices are bad therefore the car is bad lol if the price is good the car is good. We are living in such bad inflation that the product doesnt matter much more any more. My honda mower was 380 bucks 5 years ago. Now for the same damn thing is 750. The same thing! The wife went off roadikg with the honda mower. I just grabbed a 250 bucks walmart mower. And will keep it until is dead and can buy another 3 before reaching 700 bucks. So the best thing todo is just buy used. I havent had a new car in nearly 10 years. I have a used volvo and used mercdes e320 the w210 tank thing. Used cars and goods are the waytogo now. New is crazy.

You should stop calling yourself a car journalist the S3 is not comparable to a M340i the S3 is a Golf R which is a 4 cylinder awd car so it competes against cars the Golf 7R competes against the RS3 is more in league with the M340i lets be real here RS3 makes 401hp and the M340i makes 382hp so like a 19 hp difference the S3 is a competitor to the Golf R, Focus RS, Megane RS, A45 AMG all these cars have similar horsepower it doesn't even compete against BMW's cheapest M car the M2 the M2 makes like 45 HP more so please the S3 is more compatible to a 135i tge RS3 is more comparable to a M140i

Everybody in the comments complaining about the price, I just realised why. It's the lane keep assist and the heads up display. Extra 8k right there. Somehow Toyota manage to fit it as standard to a Yaris, so Audi have to charge an arm and a leg for it. Put it this way, even Q8 Black Edition doesn't have that as standard!

Audi are definitely losing their way. Not sure who is in charge, but they need to resign. Removing badges from the frontall models with Audi Sport rhombusditching ICE RS4 and probably RS6 models. ditching the TT and R8. There’s probably more.

Honestly, at that point I’d just grab the new and much cheaper Cupra Leon ST Extreme VZ. Same engine, torque splitter, 19 wheels, sennheiser sound system (it’s completely insane, panorama roof and matrix LED for overall 8-10k cheaper.

A last gen M235i coupe obliterates this in fun, excitement, driving experience and with a mild tune, even in performance.

Am I the only one, who sees these design update A5 / A6 / A3 worse then the previous gen Like they want to add every design element in one care, but somehow the harmony is lost. On all new models the front is overdone.

Shouldn't the competitor for the m340i be the S4 If they want a competitor for the S3, shouldn't it be an m240i Both of them are the smallest of their brand, and the light version of their most potent engines.

I drove those new Generation those Audi A3. and what a dissapointment, they messed up whole quality and driving wise, and plus extremely expensive. there's nothing uniqueness for this car it is same VW quality.

i actually prefer the new design of the front end tbh. i love this car, aiming to get the vorsprung model for the damping. i'll probably get a S3 badge fitted on the front though, it won't be difficult.

S3 has been on my shortlist for a few years but with each revision I like it less and less! Seeing the inside body work on the doors for a car this price! I had a 2008 A4 and absolutely loved that car.

I’m seriously considering upgrading from my 57 plate A3 to a newish S3. I’m thinking of upgrading to a 20 plate S3 or 21 plate S3.
Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Considering Audis are getting uglier and uglier with every year. just pick up a used one. However, as with all things, buying a used performance car is always a gamble.

I understand the concept (and laws) for rev limiters, but it still sucks when you get a higher performance vehicle and it sounds like a vacuum. looking at you Porsche.
