Audi R8 AWD v RWD: SNOW DRAG RACE

Audi R8 AWD v RWD: SNOW DRAG RACE

It s time for an Audi R8 RWD vs AWD drag race With a twist! Mat and Daniel have pulled up at an indoor ski slope, and they re about to race each other uphill in these two mighty supercars. Under the surface, these two cars are almost identical. They re both powered by the same 5. 2-litre naturally-aspirated V10. In the RWD, it produces 570hp and 550Nm of torque, whereas in the AWD it puts down 620hp and 580Nm. The RWD is lighter, though, tipping the scales at 1, 590kg. In comparison, the AWD weighs 1, 695kg. However, this is no ordinary drag race! They ll both start out with summer tyres fitted, after which they ll switch over to winter tyres! Will there be a noticeable difference? And will the lighter RWD R8 stand a chance? autos: I literally was crying after reading Mat's dms on my ABOUT profile section. Without a doubt the saddest thing I have seen in a long time. I am not proud.
It's just keeps getting better and better

I practically would had made it to the top of the Sandia Mountain if it wasn't for my cousin telling me to turn around. Going down was the hard part. I think if I would had gone really slow, the tires would had gotten much colder, the sliding could had been worse, & we would had been stuck there even worse if I would had just gone off to a shoulder in the sense of time. Probably would had have to have waited for someone to get up with a truck or a tow truck. My cousins gf (ex) went for us, in a Mustang GT, outside a grocery store way further down the road. Luckily those roads weren't as bad. Plus possibly by waiting we could had been crashed my someone going back down if they had the desire to rush down to go home. Who knows about the last part, luckily we didn't go through the guard, my Elantra looked a little Ted when he was put back together & made up the joke of being miss placed back, but I thought the scenery was nice enough for the small headache (that now seems as a trail of nit picking for people to use against me, when I have done nothing wrong but I'm wrong when I'm not wrong. But that led to that so)

Awesome video idea. I'm hoping to see more of this, I'm gonna list things which I would love to see and maybe give you some ideas:
- some offroad (or SUV) cars comparison
- AllSeason tyres 4wd vs winter tyres FWD/RWD (there's no point in comparing summer tyres at all)
- RWD vs FWD
- Xdrive vs quattro vs 4matic (vs proper offroader)
- ESP off and smashing it vs ESP on
- I know in UK it's not popular but in countries where we have a lot of snow it might be very useful to see: FWD/RWD hatchback/saloon on winter tyres with chains vs 4wd SUV/offroader on winter tyres

We've just moved from the UK to Sweden, so we're on studded winter tyres here. It's quite undramatic driving here in full winter conditions with the right tyres.
I cannot understand why the UK doesn't have a larger market for all season tyres. The difference for traction in snow and ice versus summer is gigantic. True, they won't perform quite as well as summer tyres in summer, but the consequences of summer tyres on snow are far worse than all season in summer.

In 2009, following a heavy (for the UK) snowfall, my 6 month old BMW 520d was stuck on my drive for 4 days. I purchased a spare set of BMW alloys and 4 Continental TS830 winter tyres and all was good. I was able to drive through relatively deep snow at 50 mph (I had been trained to do this is part of my occupation) without any fuss. As I now live on the edge of a city, where the roads are kept pretty clear, I have Michelin CrossClimate tyres fitted to my current car.

The off-center engine placement triggers my OCD. I know that they had to move the engine a bit to the left for the AWD system. But why oh why do they have to place the engine off-center with RWD version as well. That's just lazy Audi.

The Audi R8 is a legend forever in the automobile industry! It's an amazing supercar with a cool and sporty design and a lovely 5. 2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine with an amazing 620hp and 580Nm of torque!

Hey. Next up, please bring some SUVs on this slope. Again I would like to see a versus video between 4 matic, X-Drive and Quattro on this icy slope. Can we also have the BMW M4 CSL vs the R8 RWD?

After the first attempt at a race, I kind of thought this video was going to be an easy (albeit rare) miss, but I really started to enjoy. It was quite different and quite fun. Thank you!

why doesn't Daniel just up the roof and both of you turn on the AC to warm? If Audi doesn't allow you then you should say so and expose them that they want you to be cold and freezing.

Wow i love the audi car and really do enjoy your videos. Buy sell carwow. And the way it works on the winter times. You can test for me the volvo Xc40 and the Volkswagen ID4 & 5

New week up as many FOMO in. But the AMC29 story isn t over yet. The only strat that works under all circumstances is DCA all the time with solid, large companies (not hyped ones.

Actually an interesting test because some people do own these cars and it will be winter soon. reminds me of Clarkson testing the FF and Bentley on Top Gear in the snow.

Daniel: we all have a kind request to you: please teach Mat how to pronounce the name PORSCHE in a way that Ferdinand does not get a heat attack. Pleeeeesa.

Shoutout to the person who wrote the subtitles for Daniel. It's nowhere near to what he actually said but that made it even funnier xD
