Tesla S Plaid v 200mph F1 Drone: DRAG RACE

We’ve got Mat in the Tesla Model S Plaid, and he’s about to face off against the world’s fastest film drone! It’s been built by Red Bull so they can keep up with F1 cars, and we’re about to see just how powerful it is against a production car! So let’s check out the stats, starting with the Tesla. It’s powered by 3 electric motors, and these combine to produce 1, 020hp and 1, 420Nm of torque! This power is sent to all four wheels, and it’s also pretty heavy, tipping the scales at 2, 200kg. And then we come to the drone. Whereas the Tesla comes in at 2, 200kg, the drone weighs just 985 grams! It may only have 8hp, but when it’s that light, there’s no doubt this drone will absolutely fly down the straight!

No chance any car can beat that around a track. A drones average speed around a track meant for cars will pretty much beequal to its top speed. So 200-220mph average speed for the drone, and the fastest an F1 car has gone around a track is 160mph average. So ya, not a chance with a competent pilot

He doesn't have to worry about traction Ok this theory is just in my head. But the drone needs to get traction of the air. How much air is lost as in not part of the actual used air to propel forward, in the volume around the propellers Again in my head thats what i would call lost traction.

Ok thank god, as a pro drone racer myself I knew from the sound that he wasn't giving it everything, was worried he was instructed to keep it close for whatever reason. Glad he got to show off the actual speed

Coulthard is taking heaps of copium. Drones can obviously outmaneuver cars! It's only the turning radius that suffers due to the speed. If that drone had airbrakes it would be even more OP.

You have to give props to Red Bull for continuously running that F1 car with CarWow. It's not a quick and easy job to run an F1 car. You don't just get in and turn the key.

Only thing they would get remotely close to the drone that isn’t a top fuel dragster is the McMurtry spierling. That would be an interesting race to watch

You could see the drone was holding back. He was giving you a good head start as well. That said, when you beat it I jumped up shouting No way! LOL Well played

Yesterday I saw video with this drone and red bull f1 car, now you with tesla. I would love to watch f1 or other race if this drone will film that

Nevermind the speed, can we talk about just how incredible camera technology has gotten The picture quality on that little drone is outstanding.

Everytime Matt races in the wet I'm anxious that his car might hydroplane.
I almost hydroplaned once and I wasn't going anywhere near as fast

I think DC is not sure about that drone. It is literally designed to be able to keep up over one lap. Battery life at full speed 3 minutes.

Clearly the Red Bull Racing culture of sandbagging in pre-season extends to the whole team. Mat never stood a chance, bless him!

As the drone pilot fooled you and this crazy little mosquito owned you by a lightyear, I immideatly hit the 'Like button'; -P.
