I took mine to Carmax recently and the guy didn't even want to deal with me. I was actually considering selling it to them. The guy was so rude and unless I said I wanted to buy one from them, he was very dismissive. In the end, I traded it to the dealership from where I bought it. Don't know if I would go back to CarMax again. I've sold a couple of cars to them in the past and it may have just been this employee, but it definitely wasn't a good experience.

Yeah you have a limited production luxury collector vehicle with what is a shit ton of miles for it. They had to make calls to some specialty buyers to get the money right. It's worth what their buyers and the NADA Book says it is worth. And even on a Tuesday morning you are waisting there time. This is the time that the sales staff and the managers who did the appraisal are doing there prospecting and call backs to contacts.

I'm amazed at how cheap late model Euro Sport Luxury cars go for. They almost always have low miles and are well cared for too. Because these manufacturers make incremental changes to their cars a 4yr old model is not that different from a new one. The only tricky part is maintenance costs. I'd steer clear of cars needing periodic Engine Out services, or 10k belt changes.

This is funny and very similar to my experience with a Toyota dealership. I took my old toyota for appraisal. I could sell it on autotrader for 7. 5k or go for the lazy option and sell it to an English version of carmax for 5. 5k and get the money the same day. The dealership offered me only 4K. Total rip off

Doug, how dare you use a GT car for Grand Touring? Don't you know that those things are made for sitting in the garage? Seriously, though, you used the car for what it's made to do. I would expect such cars to have high mileage, but obviously some people don't know how the world works.

Did you guys know he has a column on Autotrader? PS lol Doug, I wouldn't be surprised if soon there will be a memo sent to all CarMax employees with your face telling everyone to watch out for you coming in with strange vehicles.

3: 20, you're wrong, it'll happen the other way around: )and only 30k? that is 18k in depreciation, including unlimited mile b2b warranty, then again, you added a video with the cost to own a AM for 10 months.

Pff. I had a look at a touch screen terminal at a Hyundai shop at some mall, where you could check trade in values through the reg plate + milage -- they offered little more than 50% of the actual value of the car: P

Not nearly as hilariously bad as the guy who took his 2. 9 million dollar pristine lambo Miura S to CarMaxx and they offered him 199, 998. 00 for it. That's right they offered him 200k for a 3 million dollar car.
