Lets go back on Porsche 911 development. from the late 60s till the mid 70s the 911 came in three formats the 911E, 911T and 911S all basically powered by the 3. 4. that changed around 1974 with the Martini/Porsche team when they unleashed 930 powered by a turbo 3. 6. then came other developments, like the 924/944 series which brutalized V8s with a in line 4 or the 928 series which l liked the least. long story short, Porsche was mostly known for rear engine drive except with the 924/944 and 928. both series front engine. the Cayman series being the exception because it's mid engine, which basically distributes the weight evenly on all four wheels. but where the GT4 really stands out is in that 3. 8 which is the base 911 engine and when you were having fun flying down that stretch. l was right there with you, always have a good one, stay safe

Im sure its an impressive car and all but, a 997 turbo (has manual option, pretty awesome too) for 50 grand has about the same nurburgring lap time as the GT4 (2 secs less actually, way better power, way more pratical and it has a really good exhaust note for a turbo. Ive seen a stock A45 beat the GT4 in a rolling race, so why buy this wonder car when you cant even handle a hot hatch with it? This car proves its wonders on tracks only, unless you go there often its no use to have one. Cheers tho, Id love to drive one on the nurburgring one day.

In 3-5 years the GT4 will be a 140, 000-150, 000 Porsche - without a doubt. Extremely limited production, manual gearbox only (last time they will probably ever do that bar none, the GT3 front end, 911S engine, etc, etc. Yeah, they might build a GT4RS but it owners will have PDK as an option, making it far less limited for real collectors.

I'm glad I found this review Doug. Just started contemplating buying a Cayman as my first ever sport/exotic. Although it's not so awe inspiring as many other cars, it has a great look and seems like a fun car to drive. Not a bad place to start. Guess I better go test drive a few Anyone care to share their insight on their own Cayman?

I love the fact that unlike a lot of car manufacturers, Porsche focuses on weight as much as they do a big engine. So many automakers (especially American) get a 2 ton car and slap a massive V8 or V10 in it and call it a day. But lighter cars are 10x more fun, even if they are slower.

I was returning from a trip out west and was pulled over twice by cops. Both times there were no tickets. The first was a mistake and the second to comment on my licence plate. The second cop said I was driving a beautiful. I thanked him and went on my way. What great car.

Compare it to a Camaro SS. Camaro wins every catagory easy lol. Alot cheaper sticker price, alot cheaper to maintain, can more easily get after market parts. This dinky Porsche sounds like trash to me. Its a serious piece of poo. American Muscle baby, that's the way to go.

There is a video of a guy in a stock C4 Corvette beating a Porsche GT4 on a track. The Porsche driver couldn't hold it in a corner and the 260 hp vette overtook it. The Porsche was clearly dominant in a straight line, but the vette actually seemed better in the corners.

Sooooo many of this 911, 912, & 779 or whatever else is out there. I can't keep up with models. Oh I forgot to mention bi turbo, due turbo twin turbo. Im not jealous I have more land than yankee stadium.
