It's funny to hear McLaren referred to as a little startup. their transmission couldn't possibly be as good as, and, to be fair, not everyone might know of McLaren's rich and storied history as a one of the premier F1 constructors, and, as such, it would come as no surprise that their transmissions would be no less than top-notch. Someone seriously considering such an automobile would either have known this already or have very quickly been brought up to speed, so to speak, on the reputation of this particular manufacturer of building things that go very fast, very well. Just an observation.

At 7: 42 Doug is waving his hands in the air off the wheel on a two lane road while meeting 2 cars. You can clearly watch them go past out the side window. How did Doug remain in control of the car and avoid hitting these cars? Was he steering with his dick? Only thing I can think of to explain it. Doug you missed your calling if I'm correct. You could be the next Ron Jeremy.

Startup company? Bruce McLaren started the company in 1963 and became one of the biggest names in F1 racing history. I'm surprised McClaren didn't start building road legal cars years ago. The transmission in the MP4/12C is McClaren's own design and derived from their F1 cars. For 140 grand its cheaper, faster and much more rare than a 911 turbo. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

When was mclaren a startup, the 60s not mid 2000s because the mclaren f1 was the fastest car ever for 10 years he says that in his review of and revere's that as the best car ever and it was made in th 90s and he's calling mclaren a startup in 2017 that's like saying bugatti was a startup when they made the veyron they had a huge legacy

I remember when I saw this car for the first time in the dealership. Was blown away that it only costed 200, 000 brand new (Canadian dollars. But its design has aged horribly, if your into plain and simple cars this still achieves that but with all the fancy, sharp new super cars coming out, the mp4-12c doesnt stand out whatsoever anymore.

Saw this same model McLaren outside a regular ranch house here in FL. I didn't know abt this McLaren, but im sure happy I know about it now. My dumb ass was really looking into a C8 mid-engine Corvette, but I love how this model McLaren looks, and seems to drive like any other 300k supercar. Me likey. Me want it.

Really, Doug? You had to wonder if McLaren would be able to beat Ferrari? If they hadn't proven over and over that they can do that they literally wouldn't exist today. I've loved all your stuff but seeing this makes me doubt your car guy cred. Have you never watched F1?

The McLaren MP4/4 was the best looking F1 car ever, driven by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. And I know I'm not the only one who knows, or commented on that. And this is the best looking (to me) road car McLaren has made.
