Here's Why the Ferrari Testarossa Is Shooting Up in Value

Seems like making way too much of what you call weird things. Italian cars in general, not just Ferrari, or the TR, are different than other cars. The riding position, the structural strength, placement, never been straightforward. But beyond being an Italian car, it's an exotic sports car. So why wouldn't the placement of lights or switches be exotic too. No Ferrari is going to look like a Camry for interior layout, THAT would be truly weird. You seem to make a big deal out of things most people wouldn't even notice, but there you go. You call these incredible exotic cars as crazy, but why? They are exotic, they aren't crazy at all, they do exotic perfectly way. You unfairly hold exotic cars to normal car norms and call it weird. That's an insult to the car, unfortunately, and it says more about your evaluation methodology than the actual car, and hence dilutes the force of your evaluation. These are fantastic cars, they are not weird, they are exotic, unique, limited, hand made, celebrate that rather than be a cynic about their motives. They didn't go hey, let's be weird, they obviously chose things to go where they did for a reason, and that's really not for you to decide, or to presume to know their motives. That's the ultimate in bad taste, but I know Doug reviews are never in bad taste.

I sat in a 40k mile Testarossa they only wanted 38k for back in 2011 and I HATED the pedal placement, sooooo uncomfortable Had no interest in driving it. way over to the right just lile Doug said. I have no idea what Ferrari was thinking, because having your feet like that is not inline with your waist or hips and even the upper thighs, so ridiculous. Correct me if im wrong but I don't recall any magazine articles from the 80s commenting on this horrible design?

Surprised there was no mention of the Testarossa's iconic use on the hit 80's show Miami Vice. Before that, most people in the USA didn't know this car even existed. Miami Vice popularized a lot of things in the 80's, some right away while others took time before their popularity grew but much of it was due to it being used on what is perhaps the greatest 80's show of all time. If it appeared on Vice it usually became popular.

In 2012 I had three opportunities. Testarossa for 50k, 1991 Diablo for 70k and a 1987 Porsche for 12k. Since then the government has printed 3x more currency, so we will see all these machines shoot up in value as purchasing power of the USA dollar is diminishing as we know it.

Wait a NOSE-CANDY second. The Testarossa. was offered in a grey / silver / primer color? I know of red, yellow, black. White = Miami Vice. Funny, he doesnt mention that it has TWO side mirrors. mounted on the A pillar's. I always thought it was an 80s thing to only have one.

ATTENTION DOUG CRITICAL MISTAKEThis is not a V12 car and you have overlooked one of the most interesting things about the Testarossa and that's the FLAT 12. Thats right, this is a BOXER 12 and how many of those do you know of. Its this that makes the Testarossa so special.

I've had a book Forza Italia Top Gear's Guide To The 150 Greatest Italian Cars Of All Time, it included the Testarossa. One of the sentences Just try to ignore the Fiat parts-bin switchgear and useless driving position. It's just exactly same as Doug reviewed.

I was in the backseat of my mothers' car on the highway back in 1987, and I saw a purple Testarossa fly right by us. It was an amazing sight for an 8 year old who enjoyed spotting cars back then: ) Nostalgic 80s memories: )
