Not only the outer body is plastic but the entire car. No steel at all When I studied plastic engineering 30 years ago this car was THE Hightech car for us students. We were invited to the yearly meeting of the German car industry and one of our Professors introduced this completely plastic car in a presentation. This is a kind of prototype which made it into production. But it turned out that steel is too cheap and the duration of such a car is too long since it will never have an issue with rust

I owned one. Fabulous car. Showcased a lot of new technology which eventually filtered its way onto other BMWs. Beautifully designed interior. All subsequent Zs have been very poor in comparison. The Z stands for Zukunft, which translates as future.

Great video as usual but I cannot believe you never put the top up, theZ1 does come with a roof right? I'm now left wondering is it a soft top or is it hardtop is it automatic or is it manual roof

QLD Australia you could Rent what was called a Mitsubishi Drifter, A mid-late 1980s Mitsubishi Colt, The Doors were cut down and it had a rag topFront wheel drive manual, and it pulled bad to the left

Never would I ever lend Doug my car. Is told not to wear the doors out, keeps moving them up and down. He rags the engines everytime, dude should never be allowed anywhere near other peoples exotics

I think you misunderstood the badge and the joining of the Z and 1. Its a European one which gets written with the leading upswing. Love the removable panels. Reminds me of a Nokia 5110.

Almost bought one. but the trunk is minuscule so it was a pass. so I bought a 320i (2doors) with the optional Getrag gearbox. same color as that Z1 with the beige leather interior

Fun fact: La Jolla isn't a town north of San Diego, its in the city of San Diego. Although the rich folks who live there would probably want it to be its own town, its just a neighborhood.

That door handle is likely there to help you get out, much like the roll bar on the window - right hand on the roll bar, left hand on the handle. Then pommel horse out.
