the reason flying cars are now becoming viable is because the factors of cost and technology are starting to line up. We now have very powerful compact electric rare earth motors that don't cost a fortune. Cheap readily available AI technology allows for minimal input from passengers ie no pilot needed (major restriction in the past. 3D fabrication allows the construction of more complex prototype parts without massive overheads. Battery technology has improved a lot. Also very fast wireless communications between vehicles allowing large server farms to assist the on board AI system to calculate the best flight path in real time. Also advances in automated self diagnostic systems that can test everything from the electric motors to the structure of the vehicle in real time.

. onlly in America, yes, . Melbourne here is i think one of three cities that Uber we will do trail period on the air taxis concept. I'd never want to ride in one. They will be electric cos they only need to be flying for15 minutes across a city for a journey which might be hours by car and the airport run is expected to be popular. People will need to board these vehicles at depots however. They won't arrive at your location. I don't really expect great things if it's Uber. Many people I'm sure would be scared to flying these vehicles which will resemble big drones with pivoting propellers. Naturally they'll have pilots.

Omg get the electric car right or get the flying car part right. Sheesh. the reason they went with Boeing is to stop scotty from ragging hard on them. airbags were a bad idea in the 1970's and they are a bad idea now. race cars do not have any airbags and they hit walls at 200 mph. just use that technology instead of exploding airbags that might save you from a single impact but as we all know many accidents involve multiple impacts

That dealership is a state below me and there making a political statement that I 100% support. those things there selling is a constitutional right as an American to have doesn't matter how others feel about it but a car and driving rights are not a constitutional right.

Yeah my dad thought about these flying car things when the Jetsons cartoon show was on when I was just young shade tree mechanic hahaha I built my bicycles when I was 10 that was 55 years ago now I am an aspiring retired shade tree auto mechanic hahaha

I got a good laugh from your comments about flying cars. They might have picked up a trick from Elon Musk, which is to basically tout something that is far away from actual production just to increase hype about his company on social media.
