This Is Why You Should Own a Motorcycle Kevin Clark: Ive ridden Motorcycles for almost 50 years. The two main things that kill riders are riding with excessive speed, and cage drivers not seeing bikes and turning in front of them, etc. I was in several crack ups myself early in my riding career, and have lost two friends to cycle accidents. #1, is I keep the speed down to about the speed limit, it just allows me more reaction time if something happens. I ride with the headlight on at all times. Any time I see an approaching car slowing down and turning on the turn signal, or coming out of a street ahead on my left or right side, I gently weave or wobble the bike little bit, so that I am noticed, and register in that drivers brain. You cannot ride along in an oblivious euphoric state of two wheeled bliss. You have to be paranoid on everything and everyone around you at all times. Example: I had just turned onto a road at an intersection and was accellerating up to speed.

I have road motorcycles on the street and on the dirt since the mid 70s and i love it cannot get enough of riding, they are very economical and really cheap used especially Harley Davidson since Harley flooded the market with there motorcycles it drove the price down what a bunch of dummies, a good used one goes as low as 3, 000 now days a far cry from 20, 000 only a fool would buy new, also be real careful riding around other cars do not go to fast because unlike the 70s 80s and 90s they have cell phones which makes the riding experience much more dangerous, other than that its great.

Reminds me of my days at a local TV station here in Ontario Canada. you know Rogers cable. I used to do both videography and the talking head segments for the local once a week news segments. I didnt have quite the hair flick move you got down pat though. I was more of a behind the camera guy. never felt comfy being the personality. and danged if I didnt already have a hunch you had some previous video experience. you just seemed too cool for youtube. LOL

If you buy a motorcycle, make it a dirt bike and dont ride on the highways. I was a Highway Patrolman for 22 years and a coroner for two years and have seen so many people severely injured or killed on these machines. The cool factor isnt worth an arm or a leg or your life. We all know people that have ridden motorcycles for years on pavement that havent had an accident but Im telling you that it just isnt worth the risk.

Scotty: one thing has greatly changed since you made this video: cost of insurance. Today, in addition to (inexpensive) liability insurance you need UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED motorist coverage which costs a FORTUNE for a motorcycle. There are so many uninsured drivers today (autos) if you have an accident with a car, the driver will likely NOT have insurance and you are SOL if you do not have UI coverage.

Scotty you are right. You can get cheap motorcycles from people who have crashed an gone to the hospital from the motorcycle. We both know that in todays crowded world they are the most dangerous appliances we own. I am a life time motorcycle rider, but retired when Ialmost saw the light. You are BETTING YOUR LIFE that you will never fall off of it. Really bad odds in Las Vegas

But they are death traps with little safety mechanisms, also the fact that we just dont see bikes as well, not just because they are small, but we look for cars more. My dad used to ride bikes for years, hes falling off and been hit so many times, hed never use them in the road again, on the track sure, it is a safer and more controlled environment.

Too bad that today, you have to be a fool to own a motorcycle. Why? I rode for 40 years without an accident. Last year a guy hit me- yeah, he was texting, like just about everyone driving today does. Ill never ride again after that nice long stay in the hospital. And you people who still ride know what Im talking about.

There was a guy in London Ontario 2 years ago bragging on Youtube how he gets away with being total douchebag on his streetbike. His last video showed his cranium meeting three concrete stairs that go up to the front of a small bungalow. His youtube channel still exists, he doesnt.

I have driven Motorbikes for 25 years. I love every mile. It gives me a sosial happy life. I now own among two Hondas a Zero DSR electric motorbike that i just love even after 3 years. There are so many bikes too have. The car now just becomes the box to get lots of people or things driven around in.
