The bosch platinum 4 were design to prevent carbon failing or to slow it down but they had been proven to have up to somethings like 20% less power because the blocked the spark. The bosch platinum 4 also have a very low potential of the electrode breaking off and falling in the engine and destroying one cylinder and and on a brand new car guess what bosh will pay for. one cylinder so you now have one cylinder. 030 over. True story I worked at a parts store a lady with a volvo was told that she needed the bosh 4 the car had like 50, 000 on it and the electrode broke off and did its thing. So we got on the phone with Bosch and the most we could get them to cover was to do work on one cylinder they would not buy a new engine they didnt want pay for a engine to be pulled they where all around a pain in they butt but our shop rebuilt her motor no for no labor just parts and put the one piston plus Bosch paid for plus the matching set she had to buy in. Just think if was a oil filter they say here is a new filter and oil good luck with the engine.

Hi Scotty. I have a 2004 BMW X3. I recently had an used engine (2006 X3 w/90k Miles) put in. I keep getting a lean codes. The mechanic smokes the engine once and said that I needed to replace the top intake hose. done He then reset the codes and within 24 hours the chk engine came back on (same issue) I asked him to smoke it again for other leaks. For some reason he appears reluctant to take my advice, as I know there are other areas (hoses, tubes, etc) that air can be leaking from. Please. any advice? Also, he changed the transfer motor gear but the three lights (abs, brake, and 4x4) associated with the issue will not reset. It states oil wear needed. something to that nature. Please any advice would really be appreciated from you.

I use either Seafoam or B-12 Chemtool as an additive in the fuel for my small engines. An ounce or so every few tanks keeps the grunge out and I keep the tanks full over the off season with Sta-bil in the gas. I have yet to have one that is gummed up and wont start the next year. I got tired of having to unclog my familys carb jets from solidified fuel and told them to do the same. Either it works or they are calling someone else to deal with it For cars? Not so much. Best cleaning you can do for that is a high rpm throttle body spray down every once in a great while. Itll roll coal for a few, but getting the sludge behind the throttle plate out and cleaning up the Idle Air Bypass ports helps.

This is not a comment about which spark plug is better I simply do not know. This is a comment regarding how electricity works. When the voltage is high enough to jump any gap and an arc or spark is formed it creates a plasma which reduces the resistance and lessens the voltage needed to jump the gap. If you have two or more electrodes that are grounded approximately equal distance apart as the arc starts to generate and the plasma is formed around it the effective resistance to the other electrodes will also drop and multiple arcs will form. The same effect is visible in those Plasma Balls where multiple arcs will form where ever you put your fingers.

What you need for a disable person using a wheelchair. A 2 door is a must and Its been harder to find 2 doors cars now a days. I like small pickup if you are capable of getting into them. The Ford Mustang has the door opening for the sports car. I currently am using a VW new Beetle it has the large door opening but is expensive to maintain. Get Toyota anything 2 door, if you are in a wheelchair. You want something that is very reliable because you dont want to be stuck on the side of the highway, getting out of the car in your wheelchair, I have had 2 Toyotas over 30 years and never worried about traveling 1300 miles by myself 4 or 5 times a year.

I have used Seafoam as a fuel stabilizer in my lawn equipment, automobiles and motorcycles. I also introduce it to the intake system on my vehicles and there is a noticeable difference in idle and overall performance. I used one that Scotty recommended, Gumout, and there was no noticeable difference and it made the check engine light on my 95 Chevy P/U come on. Ive also tried Techron, Lucas and others. Ill stick with Seafoam. I was a mechanic in the USAF for 8 years and then a professional auto mechanic for 22 years. I do like your channel though.

The fact he discounts Seafoam, one of the most proven additives on the market, makes me doubt all of his advice. Seafoam works wonders and carbon still builds up in modern engines. Its not only the result of oil burning. gasoline is made of carbon chains (hence the octane rating) and therefore produces carbon buildup. Its also useful as an oil additive, which he didnt mention at all and has nothing to do with carbon buildup in the combustion chamber.

Youre right, as usual Scotty. Ive only used SeaFoam in my two stroke bikes after a few thousand miles if they fouled a plug. As for Toyota motors they are indestructible. My 86 Celica ST has a 3SE motor with 237k on it and Ive only replaced external parts like the timing belt, , ignition parts, alternators and starters. Regular oil changes at 3k and a recent switch to synthetic will keep it rolling for a long time. I love your channel

Well, you are the guy that said a gallon of lacquer thinner in your gas will clean a cat converter. Now thats a joke. It is a waste of your time and money. So youll have to excuse me for not agreeing with your opinion of seafoam. In fact I have had best luck doing the opposite of your recommendations. So, without a test showing seafoam is nothing, your opinion has little credibility. But you do keep us laughing, ythank you for that
