Not taking paint and wax advice from an old timing mechanic with zero paint or auto body experience, especially someone who thinks a polishing compound is not an abrasive. Also as one who does own several new sports cars, exotics, high performance for on and off road use plus does have experience using clear wraps, ceramic and other nano coatings I can definitely say the right ones properly applied work great for many years. Best time to apply these advanced coating protections is as soon as your new vehicles paint has cured fully. If not paint correction must be done first or you are just preserving exactly what you have at the time the product is installed. I will say I am totally disgusted with the lack of quality on modern vehicles factory paint today. With all the EPA regulations in the USA forcing the use of low quality environmental friendly paints plus so many foreign manufacturers bringing their factories to American you can now see more and more the quality diminishing to the orange peel, fish eye, color shade variance issues and thinness worse than what we had in the 70s. There are a few exceptions on expensive vehicles but as more of these are now being painted in the USA. - IE Acura, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, etc you can now see 2019 luxury vehicles paint looks like crap Just tested several made in America 2019 Acuras, Mercedes, Lexus, Infinitis, BMWs, Teslas and was amazed at just how bad the paint jobs were, especially the Teslas. By far the worst was Tesla which had scratches, over spray, mismatched body lines and orange peel.

SHOWER CURTAIN LINER. That is what I use to cover my car almost everytime I park it, most times its in my Garage, but other times? Under the Shade of a tree, but tree Sap gets it, thus a Clear shower Curtain line or a Pattern one to filter out the Sun? I have Finding Nemo Shower Curtain now. My Grandkids Love it so much. Got their Parents to get them for their SUV. In wintertime? Perfect for Covering the Windsheild and front door side Windows and close the doors to hold it. get up in the morning or Come out from work into the Snowy Parking lot? Pull the Liner Off roll it up, put into the Back Seat to dry it off with the heat in the car and by the time you get home? Ready to Put back on, and nice a Flexible being all dried out and warmed up Surprised you dont tell your readers scotty? Im older than you, so probably why you youngins dont know these old tricks

As a professional detailer, Im pretty disgusted with this video. Mainly about ceramic coatings. Theyre crap if you dont correct your paint prior to application. Think of it as an additional clear coat. You wouldnt spray or apply clear to a car with iron deposits, scratches, or a dirty un prepped surface. But when applied correctly. water, dirt, bird droppings etc will have a very hard time sticking to your car. Ive had ceramic coating over my GTI for 2 years now almost and when it eventually gets dirty, 75-80% can be taken off with water alone. So no, its not all marketing crap. But it can be if your average consumer washes his or her car in their driveway and apply it without the prep work. Yes you will not get your moneys worth and can even do harm.

Ive seen a number of videos of decent car detailing channels that had demonstrated great durability of ceramic coating liquids. They can last at least 6 months and can go up to 2 years if you do regular maintenance on it. I personally dont prefer spending my money on these products just because they are not 100% maintenance free and scratch proof. Although I enjoy the appearance of a shiny car, I always get well priced decent carnauba and sealant wax and to get the good of both worlds, longevity and shine. All the waxes, polish machine and compounds I own cost a fraction of what you would spend on an exterior detailing service.

A tip a paint shop manager once told me is to use sparkling water. If you wash your car at home than do the first rinse with it, ideally by pouring it from the top and letting gravity do most of the work, only gently rubbing when needed. Apparently the reasoning behind it is that it will react with most dirt like bugs and bird droppings, so its easier to clean and they wont scratch the paint. Im not totally convinced but he swears by it, and considering the work he produces and the cars he works on than he most be doing something right At the least I can say it works in a pinch if you have nothing else on hand.

A guy sprayed his friends small pickup with Silly String for what was supposed to be a gag. The car was stringed early morning in the workplace parking lot; by 3 pm it had been baking in the Texas sun for almost 8 hours. The truck owner cleaned the stuff off when he got home, but forever after you could see where the Silly String had been - there were light lines criss-crossing the truck from on every topside paint surface. I doubt if the friend who shot all that Silly String on the truck ever paid for a new paint job, but he should have, because he ruined that poor little red truck.

Clay bar your car with any brand clay bar and some soapy water when there is a lot of grime that isnt easily coming off. Then use Mothers car polish, glaze, and wax. In the FL sun, this glaze stays longer and repels water better than the wax, so I would definitely recommend doing at least a polish and glaze coating if you cant get all the way to wax (especially after using a clay bar. Should last at least 3 months repelling water like Rain-X. Oh yeah. also, use Rain-X The concentrate formula only; not the new watered down bs they sell you in the spray bottles

For the past 20 years I have followed what Scotty has recommended in this video in the care of my 2000 Toyota Corolla. Keeping the car clean and polished (waxed) makes a huge difference in how it will present. I remember once taking this car in to the mechanic for an oil change recently and the one mechanic called his buddy over saying Look at this. Both were pretty impressed with how a 20 year-old Corolla can look. Wish I could say I have held up as well. Great learning experience on the auto paint process

Be very picky which tree you want to shade your car from the sun. Dont park under a tree that dripping tree sap or has numerous perching birds. Secondly, apply a thin coat of wax on your car to make it easier for yourself when buffing the car. Finally, always put two coats of wax on the car to make sure you have coverage. Just buff lightly so you dont leave circular scratches on the clear coat. You dont need a lot of wax on the car. Youre just wasting wax and making it harder for yourself when you apply too much.
