Hey Scotty I love your show. Your comments are entertaining thoughtful and very useful. Im always waiting for your next video. I was wondering if you dont think that youre being a little hard on the Honda civic 10th GEN 1. 5 T engine. I have one and so far Ive had no issues of oil dilution or any gas smell in the oil or the cabin. The car is a blast to drive and has amazing fuel economy and is very fast. Manufactures do need to push into the future to try and make things better more powerful and economical. I change my oil every 3000 miles anyway. Dont you think manufacturers have to push the envelope and try to create things that are better. We cant stick with old reliable technology forever or we wont get anything better. I really like driving the CVT which I think allows for a lot of the fuel economy and the power band is always there. You seem to be relatively certain that the 1. 5 T is making way too much power for its size. Are you sure that they cannot engineer smaller engines that can handle the extra load and if not what do you base that on? So far Honda doesnt seem to have any sludge or other issues with the engine. Here's how to bleed brakes if you have air in the hydroponic pump and don't have a dealership scanner. First, bleed as much as you can out of the 4 calipers. Then bleed the lines at the master cylinder. If you have good access to the abs pump, you can try bleeding the input lines on the unit itself. At this point, you should have some pedal. Carefully take the car for a test drive and find something unpaved, like a dirt or gravel road, driveway, grass, etc. Anything that's somewhat slippery. Once you find a place, get a little speed up and slam on the brakes hard enough so that you can feel the abs system activate, just like if you were driving normally on a slippery surface. The abs pump is full of valves that normally stay closed unless the system kicks in. Slamming on the brakes opens the valves and allows any trapped air to make it through the pump. After that, you can go back and bleed the air out of the calipers. Depending on how much air is in the system, you may have to repeat the process once or twice.

We love SCOTTY. I must say the European car market. uk Ireland Germany. etc THE CARS OVER HERE ARE. WAY BETTER MADE. assembled in Germany. Japan. Etc( skoda are reliable) although some issues with VW Spanish ASSEMBLY. BUT GENERALLY CARS ARE WAY BETTER BUILT HERE IN EUROPE. even fiat. .BUT NO DENYING. THE THREAD IS. KEEP YOUR NEW CAR FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. 3. THEN UPGRADE ( LIKE A PHONE) if like me your broke, or simply can't and won't buy into that MINDSET. Then source a old reliable honda. Toyota, PERSONALLY. I DRIVE A 17 YEAR OLD. MERCEDES CLK 200. and only in the last 2 years have I started to have to get repairs. air intake has just given me trouble. clicking on ac fan lately. ( it's time to say good bye. But The ENGINE AND AUTO TRANSMISSION. and build. NEVER A PROBLEM. Or if you got a buddy with you, you can start the car but the AC off and try different RPMs, then go back to idle and then turn AC on and then have them run it at different RPMs again and watch the clutch on the compressor as it engages and disengages and note the engine making bad hesitations while the clutch engages is just another way I figured it out if the compressor is really bad. But a lot of the times it's best to do the belt trick when it's just starting to go bad cause sometimes you just have to put a little vehicle load (with the belt on) and driving to just start to detect the compressor issue. Then take the belt off like our good friend here is the good old school way to go If you want to catch it from the beginning Absolutely love your videos Scotty. I'm always learning something new from you, mainly these newer School things that I don't have time to catch up on except for your awesome short informative videos

Nowadays one of the biggest scams with manufacturers is repairs. My dad bought a 2019 Camry and it has all the toys and he got a really good deal on it. He paid more for his 2007 Camry, he asked the guy how they keep the price down with all the features he said the bread and butter for auto manufacturers is repairs. He said they're not making as much on the msrp but on labor, he said the engineers design them to only be worked on by the dealers, he said to scan and diagnose the new cars you need a 20k scan tool that Toyota only sells to their dealers. They're a complete ripoff. He admitted they want the day and age of the guy fixing his own car in his garage to be over. He said that the sensor in the front bumper for monitoring headlight dimming and self braking and auto setting cruise control costs literally thousands to fix.

I've worked for three different dealerships and was a dealer loan officer for a bank a long time ago. Learned a lot about the local dealerships as a loan officer. I was also in charge of floor plans, so I got to know them well. I worked in every department a dealership has, including my last stint as the guy that kept the books and paid the bills. There are some very good ones and some very bad ones. Personally, I've had better experiences with reputable dealers than I have with any other source. Also, there is the added caveat that, in many cases, the manufacturer is on the hook as well. I don't like blanket statements that all people of a type or all businesses of a type are inherently evil or bad. Good and bad comes in more flavors than ice cream. imo

Question about my 95 Chevy Silverado 5. 7 tbi ran great for a long time 160000 miles sat most its life outside. parked it outside for 6 months low on gas cause of brakes and it started right up drove it to the front and shut it off and went to start it again and wouldn't start put more gas in it changed fuel pressure regulator fuel filter cleaned plugs map and truck will only start if u give it alot of throttle then keep messing with the pedal then it easy down and it will ideal but sounds like its missing and will typically have fuel in the oil if u keep trying injectors seem to have the right spray pattern but have never been changed track has a jipo fuel pump any idea what it could be? REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP OTHERWISE READY TO PART OUT.

Scotty I am perplexed. I drive a 07 Honda Accord Sedan 5 MT. AC will intermittently work (fan and fan speed controls always work, but air will not be cold sometimes. No coolant leak can be found with UV dyes. On top of that, sometimes the engine will idle rough, and sometimes it will throw a check engine light that resolves on it's own. Also a few times the lights have dimmed and almost gone out in night driving. One time they did go out the second I turned my brights on, then resolved in a few seconds. The issues seem to be related, in that something is draining power from the engine and it has something to do with the AC. Local and dealer mechanics cannot diagnose the issue(s. You seem very smart with vehicles, any insight would be appreciated.

Hey Scotty, VWs often have a hell of a lot of issues. Especially everything after 2000, I have a 2009 VW CC 3. 6L Vr6. Its in constant use as me and my two brothers share it, but drive it conservatively. It has over 400K miles with the original engine and transmission. What do you think of the 2009 VW CC with the 3. 6L Vr6 engine? Is it reliable as weve noticed or did we win the post 2000 VW lottery? It does have 1 electrical issue and the idle air controller causes weird revving in neutral, but outside of that, it works perfectly fine. Its definitely not perfect, but its never had a major issue.
