Best? How the hell? You're looking at one exception, not the norm. You're ignoring the frame rust that forced recalls, just because that ONE doesn't have it doesn't mean it is not a widespread problem. Also they are well known for the V6 that dies every 70-90K miles. Once you get past 50-60K miles there is driveline vibrations that feel like you're in a massage chair, and one load in the bed over 1000 lbs bends the rear axles and kills axle seals. My brother in laws 2007 Tacoma with 200K miles is on engine #4, 3rd rear end, 5th drive shaft. Meanwhile my 2006 Silverado with 176K miles looks, drives, and runs great, all original, no major repairs ever needed, no repairs needed now, nothing acting funky that would require any in the future.

They may last long in TX but in the rust belt unless you Krown it it will only last a little longer. Also being a fatter American I can't get mid size truck if I ever want a passenger with me. Like the owner of this truck. I have only put less than one thousand miles also. That is why an all electric truck would work for me. Just the fact that I could run out of juice on that one or two long trips keeps me from getting an electric vehicle.

I have an 07 V6 with tow package. 182k strong. Sold my other 01 V6 with tow and 190k for 7800 a few years back. Toyota does balk at frame replacement though. They spray a gooey coating and send you on your way. They sprayed mine but never sprayed anything near the spare tire area because when i took the spare off. it was all original rust. But they are great trucks. I only wish they would just make a 2 door shortie 4wd like they used to.

Scotty reminds me of my father, who was also a car mechanic. Buy the slowest, simplest Japanese car on the market, without ANY options. That was his choice too. I think it began with a Mitsubishi Lancer (in the US sold as Dodge in the seventies. And indeed, it succumbed to rust after 10 years an 200. 000 miles, but it only broke down once (repair cost 3 dollars for a condensor.

they want a lot of money but i can't for the life of me tell you why. every single one i have ever seen has had at least one automatic transmission failure. in the case of one customer his has now gone through 4, the last one was a Toyota rebuilt and it lasted just over the 2 year warranty mark and is now bad again. People don't fall for the hype, buy something else.

The older Tacoma's are better than the new ones. Changing the oil on a new one is difficult. Doesn't use regular oil filters, makes a mess. They are trying to be like BMW and Mercedes. They want you to do all maintenance at the dealer. No thanks.

Ive noticed that when a car has not been redesigned for say like five years, people want a redesign. But when a car has not been redesigned like over ten years, people all of a sudden do not want the car to be redesigned due to nostalgia.
