I Ranked All European Car Brands from Worst to Best Chris: My dad bought an old Fiat X1/9 hardtop convertible as a daily commuter -- in which he only had to drive three miles to work and back. It couldn't even keep up with that short commute! It wasn't a lemon. It was a LIME (a much more bitter version of a lemon. Over three or four years, he spent more time working on that car than he did driving it. It was a nice looking car -- but my dad used to joke that it was designed by a group of engineers who lacked common sense and probably failed virtually every course in engine design possible. The crazy thing? The X1/9 was better designed than most other Fiats.

Example of Mercedes poor quality:
My dad bought a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLS550 in late 2016 for 40, 000 even though it cost like 80, 000 new because he wanted a fun car since he no longer has have to carry around kids in a family car, six months into owning it, the auto start stop system failed, my dad was smart enough to fix that one issue and sell it three months later for 33, 000 and bought a 2017 Honda Accord v6 manual with that money
My dad promise to never buy Mercedes again

Volkswagan wants the American market and I think they are willing to offer a lot for that. They have money, so there will probably be no unpleasant surprises with their products. So, I think it's a good move to buy one. I own a Golf mk4, with 300, 000 km and it is still going strong. If it's possible, I'd like to keep it for life. Greetings from Romania

Fiat are actually in the top 6 reliability in Europe according to the Cargurus survey which was a total shock but I wouldn't trust that survey Alfa Romeo have always been unreliable, cars look good but just don't hold up. New BMW minis are just rubbish and nothing like the old Mini. VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat are all pretty reliable in Europe

It's a false claim that people will avoid garbage cars as you state with your Italian assessment. If that was a the case, none of the big three would have made it through the 1980s. Even today, that logic does not apply to a brand like Jeep which has the winning combo of horrific reliability and horrific crash tests.

I'll stick with my 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. thank you very much. not European and runs like a top. granted, it has every gizmo, lever, knob and gadget one could ever imagine on a car/spaceship that I'm quite sure will go wrong in the next few years, but, for right now, it's a very good car.

Love my 2019 VW Arteon SEL Premium R- Line AWD with the Aisin transmission. Made in Germany too! Got it for 18% off sticker and had a 6 year/72k mile warranty. I usually keep a car for 10+ years or 125k miles. At the 6 year mark if it s giving me headaches, I ll get something else!

I have an 01 Audi A4 with the 1. 8 Turbo. Close to 200K miles and still gets 28-30mpg average with enough power to hit 120 mph real quick! I love the car and about to get a 2017 A6 for my wife! I also do all my own maintenance and repairs so.

I'm British and bought a 10 yr old Mazda MX5 (Miata) to replace a 3 yr old Mini due to a bad catalytic converter. Never failed an MOT on the Mazda yet. Buying a much older car for better reliability should tell you something!

hey scotty what do you think of a 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T with the 5. 7 Hemi, and 95, 000 miles for 3, 400? i just bought the car a few days ago and have been loving it, just wondering what you thought of those cars. thanks!
