I bought a 2008 xD new, and after 12 years of city driving, 91000 miles, and regular maintenance, it conked out in my driveway last month. It cranks, but it sounds like I'd removed all the spark plugs. I'll take responsibility for that failure. :o(The car doesn't owe me a thing, frankly. I got my money's worth out of it, and it DID try to warn me with the VVT rattle for 2 years, but that was a 5000 fix and the car was only worth like 2500. I replaced it with an Avalon back in June. I love both cars and I'd still recommend a good used Scion to anyone.

I bought a 2005 first generation Scion Xb and it is bar none, thee best vehicle I have ever owned. I disconnected the AC belt and went from 33 mpg to 38 mpg, it's a 5 speed stick shift going on 5 years now, Oil changes Tire change, and one short bypass belt is all I put into this little van. It's there best work as far as I am concerned. Lets see 5 grand 5 years driving no repairs, duhhhh It's a no brainer. Good luck finding them cheap around here, forget it, word's hit the streets, a great second hand car for the budget conscious.

lexus, infiniti, acura etc. were brought about because the manufacturers were already importing their limit. they would have to pay extra tariffs if they wanted to import more cars. so, they started new companies to get around the tariffs. brilliant. the infiniti logo is a road. the acura logo is an engineers drafting compass. acura, accuracy. lexus is an acronym for Luxury EXport to the US. they made them luxury cars to maximize profits. less cars at higher prices.

I think Scion lost part if its appeal when it went with larger bodies, larger engines and lower mpg. The early Scions had the little 1. 5 and (I think) 1. 8 engines. They were fun, basic, and almost always above 30 mpg. When they got bloated and dropped the mpg to the mid-upper 20s w the 2. 4s, the people who loved Scion for being a basic, efficient car started to migrate to cars like the Kia Souls, which are fairly reliable and a good deal better on gas.

the guy that ask about the clutch, is there Hydraulic Fluid in the slave cylinder? this big Dummy burnt one up because he thought it was full, but I never took the top off, I was seeing the stain from the old fluid, the reservoir was really Empty, so I had to change the clutch, I have always done my own work, so it only cost me 25, back in the day, but doing it on my concrete drive was no fun this a shout out to scotty from Champaign ILL, U of I

I think Toyota's motivation for this brand was not just kids but finding a cheap way to replace their sports car with a new brand that was really not sporty but still had good quality and sold for just as cheap. So really what they wanted was to stop making the Celiac, MR, and Supra for something that was more likely to sell by engaging the youth witch are the ones most interested in sports cars anyway.

I have a 2005 xB with 220, 000+ miles on it. It's had some minor issues (right now it seems like my overdrive doesn't function properly sometimes, and I'm having some similar issues probably related to corroded or dirty parts after being exposed to the elements for 15 years) but at this point I don't trust or care to drive anything else at this point other than the new Rav 4 hybrid lines.

As the proud owner of a 2016 Scion iM with a 6-speed manual, I'm happy with my car. My car is basically a European model Toyota Corolla hatchback. The engine is not so fast, but having a manual transmission makes it fun. And it's got an independent rear suspension. Of course, as a Toyota, especially with a manual transmission, it should last me forever.
