Hey Scotty. If you get a chance to read this. I was wondering if you know much about automatic car starters. 2 WAYS. I bought one for my Mum for Christmas at Canadian Tire. It's expensive to install I hear which is why it is still sitting in the box. Haha I hear it's a good idea to take it to a specialist for installation. I guess it would depend on the mechanic and his knowledge of computer gadgets but maybe would you know what the best option for her would be for installation and also any tidbits about the things? Damage anything? wear out easily? Buying another vehicle then having to take it out of one and putting it in another vehicle? Anything you can help me with? Might make a good video? Thanks for all the info and honesty and laughs

THATS THE DIFFERENCE IN STEEL. higher carbon steel corrodes faster than higher alloy steel used in japanese vehicles. Structural strength is necessary to an extent. The cars that rust away with more rigidness are of no value when they come apart or fracture under exceeded stress. Japanese builders understand that and use softer alloy steel in there products under vibrations and impact as well as weather extremes. European vehicles really are over painted over priced rust buckets compared to purpose built Asian ones.

Small point: before believing all the fault codes, did you wash every connector in sight with clean water, dry off with WD-40, then separate the connectors, spray the contacts with contact cleaner and reassemble? It costs a few dollars, pounds or euros and can make a lot of difference. And who in their right minds with an offroad vehicle doesn't check the underside for corrosion before and after winter, and spray any exposed bolts and bare metal with corrosion inhibitor? The cost is minimal, the savings considerable.

I currently own the third Hyundai/ Kia product I have ever owned (currently a Sedona, previously an Elantra and Accent, as well as the third one to have over 120k miles on it, and like the first two, nothing wrong with it. The engine is fine, the transmission shift smoothly, the electronics still work, the only thing I had to replace was a front driver axle because the previous owner was kind of rough with it. The Koreans do a way better job on cars, especially the ones built in Korea, than people think.

Below 10mpg in the Escalade is not reasonable, Scotty. I have a 2019 Yukon 4x4, granted, it has the 5. 3 and not the 6. 2 of the Denali or Escalade, but in the city even in the winter it averages closer to 14-16. I've only owned it for the past 2 months so that is dealing with cold weather and winter blend fuels. My Father in law with his 2018 Silverado 4x4 also with the 5. 3 has averaged in the mid to upper 20s on the highway.

My friends in South Africa say there they are used on farms. Main competitor to the Land Rover. Though the much cheaper, and probably as good, Toyota Helix is just as popular. When folks in the U. S. buy them it's to show off. Of course at the recent Auto Shows Ford is pushing 100, 000+ 4 X 4 F-150s. Again vehicles for folks with more money than brains.

Hey Scotty. I have a 04 impala 3. 8 with 327, 000 miles. The other day it ran hot on me. I added fluid and the thermostat unstuck but now my #1 cylinder is misfiring. Think it's a head gasket? Ive had issues with the Coil Packs going out from time to time. Or you think the heat made something with the ignition malfunction? Thanks. Love your show.

Those original G Wagons were made for the German military and they are indestructible. Getting one of those is almost impossible though. I know Scotty doesn't like Mercedes very much but I wouldn't mind having an S 65 AMG. I know it's an endless money pit but it would be a fun one.

MBs rust protection was crap in the 90s, and still not fully recovered. Holy crap, some of the E classes from mid 90s were totally brown, regardless of color within few years after new. Here, MB even refused to acknowledge it, even though the problem was glaringly obvious.
