Ford as usual shot themselves in the foot when they stopped producing the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car. pretty much every police department used them, the Taxi companies used them, executives used them, and regular every day people used them too. They sold millions. nothing today even comes close to these cars, they were great and many people miss them. My aunt and uncle had a Crown Vic they only got rid of it because it had 500k on it, and it was a question if you'd get out of the car after you got in it, all the door latches, locks, handles, and windows were pretty worn out to the point you may get in but may not get back out. Great car, they'd get 26mpg on the highway with it, pretty damn good for a V8.

Great video scotty. Love all your content. All these cars are great, but in the end the mpg numbers are too low. You can get about 60 mpg out of a Toyota yaris hybrid. Now I know the yaris's in the US have caused many deaths due to automatic acceleration problems, but they were made by Mazda in Mexico for christs sake. The yaris's here in Europe are made in France by Toyota themselves and have a very high reliability record. I had a European made 2008 yaris for 6 years and only had to spend around 1000 dollars in repairs in all. Sadly I totaled it and made the mistake of buying a Chevrolet Aveo, which broke down after three months now im back to looking at yaris's.

A year ago when I was shopping for a car, I was debating between spending 20k on a new economy car, or finding a clean, low mileage Grand Marquis/Crown Vic. I found one for sale 20mins from me in mint condition with 18k original miles for 4, 500. I called the dealership to ask if the car was still available. It was. I told him I was interested, but needed to think on it because I thought the price was too high for a 20yr old Ford. In reality, I knew it was well worth it, but wanted to get him down on price if I could. MISTAKE. I called the guy back the next day, but he told me it sold. Kicking myself ever since.

Bit morbid but, our neighbors are pretty old and they have a mint mercury grand marquis from 2006 and 2005 Ford Ranger thats just sit there. A lot of our older neighbors have passed away now. What happens usually, when the older neighbors pass, their relatives know my family and they tell us about estate sales. So I guess its a depressing source of mint, reputable used cars. I wouldnt try buying these from a used car dealer, since a lot of the panther bodies were ex-cop cars and are beat to death.

I was an engineer at Ford until 99. Old timers used to complain that the 90s cars were junk compared to the 'old days'. Of course the data proved otherwise. The entire culture at Ford was about quality and getting 10 years / 150, 000 miles for every component and system. The Crown Vic/Marquis/Town Car platform was rock-solid. Ford stopped making it because people stopped buying. it. At the end only taxis and cops were purchasing. Most people buying cars are not looking to keep them forever.

Grand marquis are bulletproof Indestructible They basically have a Ford F-150 engine and transmission in them and are full frame These cars are tough and you cant kill them if you tried. I own a 2006 model LS and its been the most reliable car Ive ever owned. Its simple to work on too And Ive owned Camrys and Lexus. Its the most comfortable car Ive ever owned too, and Ive driven brand new cars. Its more comfortable than my now ex GFs 2018 Honda Accord.

That sofa car is just like my maroon 2000 134K miles but leather with 10 disc CD in the trunk. Need to work on airbags, driver window doesn't work, I have a issue with the lights comming on draining the Battery. So I pop the hood pull an orange fuse, when I park 10 hours or more. These are called qwerks, gives your car personality. When I go drive through I lower the back window and lean my seat back. I'm 6' I can reach out for stuff like Shaq.

I have a 1989 Grand Marquis with 89, 000 miles. The roof leaks, paint is bad, all interior plastics & dash are busted, head gasket leaks oil, replaced the distributor twice and the power steering pump once. Things that don't work: radio, interior lights, speedometer, headlight switch, aftermarket alarm, cigarette lighter, ashtray doors don't close. Stills starts everyday and I bought it for 200 from a retired electrician.

I had to get the trans rebuilt in my 2007 Grand Marquis. The shop told me I just flat wore it out. 140, 000MI. I should have changed fluid more often. NOTE: When I checked the fluid (frequently, it seemed just fine. Color was good, no stankley smell, etc. I guess I was just fooled by may car Mostly drive to & from work, 42MI total 5 days.
