This Will Destroy Your Cars Engine #03 Another thing that may destroy your car or may cause serious damage. Ive owned many, many cars over the last 50 years. I just love cars and most mechanics. I do simple stuff like oil changes, spark plugs, filters and the like. Had my cars serviced at both dealers and independent shops. Heres my beef: mechanics who leave tools on top of the engine, drop tools down in hard to reach places, and leave tools on top of the windshield wiper blade. After a visit to a shop I never, ever start my car without popping the hood and looking around to make sure that the engine looks OK. Sometimes I see a hose that has not been reconnected or low fluids that should have been topped off. Got a free oil change at a dealership once because of the stuff I found was so bad. In defense of mechanics I know the can be under pressure to get the car back to the owner as quickly as possible and like all people, mistakes can be made. Please considering this a cautionary tale.

Scotty, LOVE your videos, but have had WAY too many problems with MOST Honda aftermarket parts. I put 278K on my 1994 Civic EX Coupe, 11K on my 2008 Si Coupe (in which the low profile tires bent and RAISED the sheet metal radiator support before being totaled at less than 8 MPH The air bags did not even deploy-I was moving that slowAlso had the water pump bearings go out on the same 1994 after 25K or so. The original owner used a private shop and the timing belt and tensioner were also sub par aftermarket parts. According to a former shop super at my Honda dealership in Texas, some aftermarket 4 cylinder Honda oil filters will STARVE the engine over time For paying a little more for a NOS Honda part, youre getting a BETTER oil filter plus a new crush washer. If the techs. at Monkey Lube dont change this crush washer, the oil pan drain plug hole WILL get stripped and you do NOT want to pay for this repair, as Honda typically replaces the oil pan and does not helicoil the stripped threads. Heck, I just finished sending back for the second time a 25. 00 (apiece) windshield washer nozzle for my 2004 Civic EX. The first nozzle wouldnt spray at all and the second one shot at the base of the front windshield-GAH-John in Texas

I have to partially disagree with you on the salvage title issue. There are many salvaged cars out there simply because of extensive cosmetic damage and nothing more. I believe better advice would be if youre unfamiliar with cars or dont know how to look up the vehicle history stay away from salvage titles. If you have the desire to research the vehicle more theres potential for a great buy. An F-150 with bed and minor cab damage was just sold here in NC to a friend. No frame damage at all. We pulled the bed of his old truck (same year) did a little dent pulling and paint. Now has an excellent condition truck for 2k (including repairs. Plus he has a cadaver truck to pull parts off of when he needs them. Knowing Ford trucks. hell probably need them.

Salvaged? My daughters car was totaled because the thief supposedly broke the door lock and ignition lock. Doesnt sound like much does it? Get this- When she bought the car back I took a look at it and the locks were fine. NO DAMAGE. Just the glove box was broken and I got one on Ebay and its perfect. Absolutely nothing is wrong with the car, and I see NO DAMAGE. the Insurance company for some reason just didnt want to deal with it because its older, but low mileage. Now Im driving it. Gives me a whole new perspective on salvage titled cars, but like anything else you just need to know enough to make a good choice. this car was not repaired and is totally fine.

Scotty, I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4. 0 about two weeks ago the Transmission Overheat light and the OverDrive Off light began coming on the dashboard. Took it in they put one of those scan tools on it they drove it to see what code it would give they said it gave none. Transmission fluid was changed in Dec 2018. For the last 4-5 years during the Transmission oil change I have so Lucas Transmission Fix added because of slipping. So the truck ran great since Dec now this light comes on, and I can feel the transmission slow down like when you turn off the OverDrive while in motion. Any idea what could be causing this problem. Thank you in advance

Mr Scotty, I bought a 1991 Toyota Camry automactic(1350. 00) 153, 000 miles. 4 cylinder as a used car (not pretty) for my best friend, run geat WHO totalled his nissan 2000 18 months ago to help him, just 1 month ago. Based on your wisdom. it too was stated AS-IS been in couple wrecks, Car fax, SALAVAGED appeares numerous times. EVEN UNder his name SALAVAGE remains Oops Just saw your video about that. Did not know view title first before money. Wish us LUCK too 700, 000 mile in the future. The Toyota picked via your recommendation. Been a fan for 5 years now. You make my day more bareble. hahahahha: D

I had a 91 celica GT. Awesome car Oil filters are a hot topic. I know that in my older 4. 0L jeep engines anything other than mopar filters would cause oil pressure issues. Also toyota will often give you a hard time about warranty engine work if you use anything other than toyota filters. Ive stuck to OEM filters for everything. They are made the specifications of the auto manufacturer even if they are produced by Fram/Purolator/Wix/Denso. The one time I used a mobile 1 filter my engine knocked on cold start up. They filter well but can restrict flow.

Scotty youre awesome to watch recently started enjoying your videos and have a question of my own, I have a 06 Honda Civic lx 5 speed 1. 8L. 230k miles. I have a problem with a grinding noise while in low rpm in first gear and second, almost like a card in a bike wheel noise but intensified, almost grinding. I purchased the car about a month ago and the sound seems to be slightly worsening. Was researching and saw maybe it was the main shaft bearing? Im no mechanic though just a small time at homer need help.

I dont agree with you on buying an old 70; s Caddy. I bought a 79 Coupe Deville with very low millage back in 2000. I drove it for 10 years until a tree fell on it. It was an under powered tank that I had no major and only a few minor problems with. The alternator went and I bought a rebuilt for either 29 or 39 dollars and changed it in the auto parts store parking lot. Try getting one for that much for a modern car. I did eventually have problems with the climate control but jury rigged it using a rheostat.

Not all salvage titles are issued from accidents. My 1st corvette was a theft recovery that had been missing for years and insurance paid the owner. When the chop-shop was busted and the vette recovered, only the stereo had been removed and ignition busted up. Also had a Yamaha R6 that the kid was only doing about 10mph when he dumped the bike and was run over by a car. Bike was fine. Certificate of Destruction on that one. Had to replace the frame simply for paperwork purposes.
