2: 23 I keep wondering how much of this reputation for unreliability on GDI/Turbo small engines is just a function of PISS POOR MAINTENANCE by the owners (or leaser s) as opposed to truly bad engineering by the manufacturer. Coupled with literally driving them like they re stolen.
Seriously now, if I see someone a mile ahead of me driving like an absolute looney bird, IF I can actually catch up with him it seems like they re always driving a late model Honda, Nissan, something with the deadly combo of GDI, tiny turbo 4-banger, and CVT transmission; and they re driving it like they literally want it to catch fire. Is it possible these cars are far more mechanically sound than we give them credit for, & are just being driven like F1 cars (and poorly maintained) by ignorant, negligent operators?

You should have looked up this 2007 Acura RDX on carcomplaints. Your costumer should sell this car emediately, in my opinion. They have sudden accelaration problems, brakes that suddenly engage and turbos that fail and many other things that can go wrong with them. And those who complained said that the dealerships didn't want anything to do with the sudden acceleration and brakes problems, so these cars are still driving around. And the dealership wanted 8700 to fix the turbo. One of the owner said that he highly adviced against buying the 2007 model. Sorry about saying this, but safety first for your customer. And the check engine light was on, as another commenter noticed first.

The best Turbo charged car you can buy is an Alfa Romeo Giulia QV. If you want the best SUV/Jeep a range rover 5. 0 Supercharged V8 L405 or L322 if you have a lower budjet when they fixed the timing chain guide problem is the best. BTW this is about the best car you can buy not the most reliable though the new Alfas are significantly more reliable than those of the previous generations and the post 2012 5. 0 supercharged V8 in the rangerover is a solid engine and a beast of an off roader.

Myself I don't really like turbochargers. I would only get one on a diesel. On a gasoline engine I would take a supercharger if I had the choice. Turbos don't hold up well in the long run and can cause all kinds of internal engine problems. This Acura isn't bad but I won't even think about buying a used car with the small engine with direct injection and something like 25 lbs of boost. There's no way those things hold up.

Mr. Scotty, how come car manufacturers dont go back to making 1960 car models. They can put those shitty motors and transmissions. I am sure more people would buy car models like the Chevy ll, 1960s ford mustang's, and 1965 buick grand sport. Why dont they do that. I figure if anyone would know and that person is you.

Are the tix reliable? I've heard problems with electronic issues and the ST 9 speed transmission being clunky and jerky. I just want to know mainly if any of this is true and will mainly of will the engine and transmission last 200, 000 miles plus?

I personally liked the sound of the RDXs until I had a friend who bought a new one and unfortunately it felt really junky and the transmission was horrible, jerky and gear hunting. Needless to say he s trading it in a few months in.
