Auto Repair Shop Scam Caught on Camera, You Won t Believe This Marilyn: I have the same car and my car was leaking power steering fluid. took it to a mechanic and they told me it was the rack and pinion 1400 dollars and then he said I needed an alignment after that, so more. I didn't get it done. I took it to another mechanic and it was my power steering pump and power hose. wasn't even the rack and pinion, saved myself a ton of money. I was talking to my friend and she said the same guy charged her 400 dollars to install a battery, I couldn't believe she fell for that. Like you said Scotty they rip off seniors. It would be best to get a second estimate before you have major work done on your vehicle.

When your brakes are new your fluid is set to the max mark. There is room in the reservoir for expansion etc. Assuming there are no leaks, theoretically the fluid reach the min mark when the pads wear to their respective indicators. Years back I serviced my then girlfriend's car. (I admit she wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed) Tune up, air/ cabin filters and oil change with new rotors and pads at all four corners and replaced and bled the brake fluid as well as all other fluids. Set the brake fluid to max and it's good to go. 6 months and 5k miles later she goes to a mechanic for an oil change as I was working long hours. Unbeknownst to me he gets her for an airfilter and tops off her fluids.
5k miles and 6 months later she comes home with another oil change and air filter and a 2k quote for a brake job to fix a leak at the master cylinder. that was leaking from the cap from the same mechanic overfilling it. I wrote a letter to the local department of consumer affairs and sent him a copy. That shop/gas station is now a gas station/ convenience store.

Scotty, the four Denso spark plugs for my Mazda RX-8 were 95! Each rotor had both a leading and a trailing spark plug. To make matters worse Denso was the only spark plug manufacturer that made plugs for the darn thing. I drove it 110 miles per day to work and back year round here in the midwest, even in winter through snow. I finally got rid of it due to the poor gas mileage (23 mpg highway) and bought a new 2012 Nissan 370Z. It sure was fun to drive though. The 370Z is super fun to drive and I can get up to 32 mpg highway due to the VVEL.
P. S. Have you heard anymore about Nissan possibly coming out with a new 400Z or 470Z maybe?

Even in Canada two different Midas shops tried to rip me off too. One in Victoria B. C told me that my power steering rack was wearing and starting to leak. Why is the pavement under where it's parked is dry? Another Midas in Calgary Alberta told me that my front struts were leaking again no spots where it is parked and that my air filter that I changed 2 months ago was dirty. I drive 2008 toyota Highlander with
117 000 miles on it.

Thank you for this video scotty! Lexus trying to sell me four lower control arms on my 2008 LS 460. I bought it last year with 10, 000 mi on it. I drive a lot yes, but there's no clunking and my own visual inspection the bushings are fine. There are problems with the bushings I've heard on the LS 460, but there's no clunking it right straight I don't see any torn bushings but they're trying to sell me a 3, 000 job.

Local shop wanted 1200 labor to put a heater core in my Sierra.
Not only did I replace core, but water pump, and all new ac system from evap forward for like 800.
If they'd have done the heater core for 500 or so labor I'd have let them do it just to avoid the headache.

Bastards making this old couple, who get the benefit of a free car, pay them the money they saved on purchasing it, instead. Absolute scum. The type that think older people, who have saved for their retirement have money they deserve to be separated from. Despicable!

Talk it up Scotty. 2gr-fe motor is a nightmare to work on. Motor lift to change the water pump. Great design Toyota. 45 minutes to change those rear spark plugs. I d like to see that. Gm 3. 8 now that s a great engine. How would I know? Well I own both.
