Heres What Happens if You Dont Change Your Engine Oil Filter Howabouthetruth: Scottys right. The Nippon Denso fuel pumps usually do last forever in the Toyotas. Also, Nippon Denso ( also called ND for short ) starters & alternators are hands down THE VERY BEST ever made. PERIOD. They have patented designs that do NOT use cheap bushings and every component is over-specd. even more windings around the electric motors used in the starters. The only thing ya need to replace in ND starters are those 2 little copper pieces in the very top of the starter, like on any starter. Those wear down eventually. But they only cost a couple bucks at the most and super easy to replace. But ya have to remove the starter to get to them. When you remove the top of the starter itself, you will see them right there. After 330, 000 miles on my 2000 Tacoma 4x4 ( that I bought new 18 years ago. Im STILL running the original ND starter, alternator, and fuel pump. If you ever buy any vehicle that ya really want to keep forever, and if a starter or alternator quits, see if ND makes starters & alternators for that vehicle. Chances are they do.

Hi Scotty Love your videosI have a doubt regarding my car. I stay in India and I own a 2008 model Suzuki Swift (Petrol) car. I have run the car for around 78000kms till date. I have always left my car for service at regular intervals from Suzuki authorised service stations. However, after watching your videos I was going through the past service bills and I observed that at each oil change interval Suzuki service centres have used a 0w30 engine oil in my car, whereas on checking the car manual I found that the recommended oil grade is 20w40 by Suzuki for my car. Now I am really confused as to what to do next? Whether to continue getting oil changed at service centers with 0w30 or go for Shell engine oil which is available in grades of 15w40 and 10w40 in India? Shell does not have a ready 20w40 grade oil in India. Also using a 0w30 engine oil in a 20w40 recommended has any effects on my car? Kindly help me on the above.

Never EVER buy a car off lease. Or at least open up the oil cap with a flashlight and take a good look into the valve cover if possible. When I used to wrench on cars, I had plenty of people come in before bringing the car back on lease for their first oil change. usually at 20-25k miles. Engines were all sludged up and already shot. Even with manufacturers offering free oil changes (Im under the suspicion that they started doing this specifically because they were getting cars that were cooked with such low mileage off leases, people still dont do them because they dont want to take the time out of their day to maintain a car they know theyre getting rid of in a couple years. So, never EVER buy a car off-lease.

Kid I went to high school with had bought one of those cheap Mitsubishi Mirage cars. That was funny in itself. But hey. its all he could afford I guess. Lol. But this guy drove that car for over 10 years. He never once changed the oil or filter. Not one so how time. The strange thing is the car ran perfectly when he sold it. It had over 200k miles when he sold it. Lmao. I bet if he had changed the oil and filter properly. the car probably never would have made it that long. Perhaps the old nasty oil helped to preserve the engine. Lol

Scotty, in spite of the criticism you get from time to time, you still have my support because lets face it, nobody is perfect, and nobody knows everything about everything, not even guys like us. And being Ive been watching your channel for about 6 years now, dare I say when it comes to crash courses in automotive repair, maintenance, and advice, youre among the top dogs here in Youtube land. I hope to keep watching you for many times to come. Thanks for everything youve given us so far.

I had a Ford Fiesta, back in the 1990s. It was a crash-damage, rebuild but very reliable carAfter Id driven the car for about 6 years, I took it to a garage, for its first ever service. I remember the mechanic taking a screw driver (and using a mallet) driving it right through the oil-filter, to use it to (give him some purchase, in order to) screw the filter off. He turned to me and asked: When did you last change your oil-filter? & of course, my reply was. What is an oil-filter?

I had a friend who would sometimes change his oil and not change the filter. I asked him the same question. the filter is cheap and easy to replace so why not do it? Aw man, Im in a hurry or Aw man, I am changing the oil so at least give me credit for that or Aw man, I dont have the extra money for a filter right now or Aw man, I change the filter every other oil change and it works just fine. Somehow, he always had money for beer though LOL

Scotty question for you, I dont think youve answered this one: What is the best Diesel truck for heavy hauling in terms of performance and reliability, Dodge 3500, Ford 350 or Chevy 3500. Thinking about getting one, Ive ruled out Chevy, am leery of Ford and to a lesser extent Dodge but not sure. Im thinking dually, 4X4. Im wondering if I could get an Allison transmission in the Dodge to go with the Cummins 6. 7L.

Hi Scotty, I have a 2007 Honda Fit (Auto tranny) When i open the engine oil cap on my car and start the engine i can feel a lot of pulsating air but no smoke from the engine through the engine oil refill vent. I did the same with my friends cars (toyota camry and VW jetta) too and had the similar experience. Is this a sign of worn out piston rings or Engine BlowBy, or any early warning signs? Cheers
