The Best Car Ive Ever Owned and Why palebeachbum: Best car I ever owned is a tie between a 1985 Volvo 240 DL and a 1994 Volvo 940 Turbo. Minimal repairs and very easy to work on. Repairs consisted of replacing a worn tie rod on the 240 and the AC compressor (common failure point, and an ignition related part on the 940. Worst car I ever owned was a 1988 Toyota Camry DX. The Camry had massive oil leakage from the 2. 0L 4cyl. 1, 000 later in gasket repairs, still leaked. Fuel pump died, leaving me stranded at a busy intersection. Sunroof failed. Interior quality was really bad. Parts were literally falling off and the vinyl skin and fabric on the doors delaminated. The engine pinged and smoked out the tail pipe. I had the timing adjusted, but it didnt resolve it. The brakes always made a grinding noise when turning sharp to the left, such as pulling in a parking space. This car only had 138k miles on it when I sold it to a mechanic, who 2 weeks later called saying he wanted his money back because it leaked oil so badly. First and last Toyota experience.

Buddy I own a 2014 MMT transmission 2014 1. 4 d4d Corolla ( Euro spec of course) and the car is a disaster the transmission is garbage, the engine is below the average in every way, there is a weird creaking sound in each of the suspensions, the road noise is terrible etc. etc. The only good thing about it is its air con. I think Toyota there in the US treats you differently or you are missing things when you consider their cars. Btw here in Turkey cars are way more expensive compared to there and most of us have to stick to our cars for a longer time. Yes Toyotas are also known reliable here but no one claims that they are good in comfort, handling, economy etc. Here the king is MB and you cant find a 2002 e320 below 10 us grands. I know that it is easy to find one around 3 grands there because people fixing German cars rip off people and they start thinking that Mercs are three times more expensive to look after compared to Toyota

Best car I ever had was a Toyota Echo, had 90, 000 miles on it and I paid 2, 000 for. I put almost 140, 000 More on itOnly thing I ever did was put spark plugs in and change the oil and bought set of tiresHad to put front brakes on soon as I bought it to get it through inspection. Hit two deer with it, first time I got the sheet metal from eBay, second time I said heck with it and bungee cord the hood down. No other troubleWas a fun car to drive, got 40 mpg, lots of space for a little car. Finally a rear wheel bearing went out, parked it for a year then sold it to my girlfriends dad who really wanted itHe fixed it and loves itThink he has 300, 000 on it nowJust an amazing car. I drive a 2007 Yaris hatchback now I like it and in the 2 1/2 years I have had it no trouble, after I put some expensive work to get it inspected.

Ive got a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada with 243, 000 miles on it. The GM 4. 3 liter with 4 speed automatic transmission is the best engine/transmission combo GM made at that time. Replaced head gasket, alternator, starter, radiator, security module, air compressor, ignition switch, shocks all around (With front Bilsteins of course, radio, right wheel hub bearing, right outside mirror, cargo net (didnt have one, gas charged struts for rear window and rear hatch, and misc. normal wear out stuff. Paint is great. Runs like a champ. Leather seats still in great shape. Every day driver and gives few problems. Just mind your fluids and change regularly.

The most reliable car I owned was a Peugeot 106 1. 5 diesel, nothing failed on it at all, ever. Small, basic, slow but super economical and reliable. and the next, dont laugh, is a MK4 VW Golf GTI 1. 8t. Its 20 years old, Ive had it six years, bought it with 80k miles on the clock, it has 135k now and its never handed me a big bill. Ive done regular routine maintenance on schedule including belt changes. The only unscheduled jobs were a catalytic converter at 120k (cost 130, an ABS pump around the same time (cost 40) and an ABS sensor (cost 20. It has no rust and looks super clean and it still starts and drives perfectly.

I owned quite a few cars over a period of 30 years. And if Im going to say what is the best car of all cars I had. I have a few: Number one best car was a 1984 Mazda 626. 1994 Nissan Sentra, 1995 Mazda Protege These I would say were the BEST cars I ever owned in terms of RELIABILITY And if Im talking about as of todays update. I have to include my 2013 Kia Rio as one of the best I ever owned The 1984 Mazda 626 was a car I was straight out HAPPY with the purchase And as of now, my 2013 Kia Rio remains as one of my MOST SATISFIED purchase I ever made

HI, Scotty. Nice video. Id have to say my favorite car was an 88 Subaru 3 door Coupe with a 5 speed and the old 4wd. I got 240, 000 miles out of it until the body went. I was driving really carefully at the end and one day the back end dropped a bit and heard this whirring noise. Looked behind me and could see the back tire. My first car was a 64 Rambler American flat 6 with a 3 speed on the tree. A fun car until the engine went, rings were shot. Oh well, what you gonna do. Thanks for sharing.

the problem with vw current dsg automatic is people dont get them serviced enough the valve bodies are sensitive and need clean fluid. They are terribly hard to service too. that is why they have a bad rap today. In 2006 and later they are pretty tough rounding more than 240k miles on both of mine. with diesel torque and they are still running strong. New toyota trans are starting to be more cheaply made by the way. Not like the ones you liked in the 80s and 90s.

I favor 10_+ year old chrysler/dodge minivans. They are cheap, and just camping out in them for my 2 weeks vacation saves me 900 a year, so they pay for themselves. Typically, i can get 2 years worth of relatively low-cost use out of one before I have to replace it. Parts are available at any scrap yard, and most work on them is simple to do. Avoid the 4 cylinder models, tho, especially in the mountains. They just dont have enough oomph to pull a van.
