Hey Scotty. Got a real question for you. I got a 2005 Chevy Trialblazer. It shredded the insides of both tires. Took it to a shop they said I needed 2 new lower control arms and a tie rod end. I ended up replacing both Control arms, both tie rod ends, sway bar links and both upper ball joints myself. (god that sucked) Then I had two tires put on the front and the shop couldnt do the alignment. They said my parts was broke. new parts was broken. so after a few days of fighting. I brought it home, adjusted the tow in and fixed the front by eyesight to it being straight and it drove great. UNTIL. I had to slam on the breaks at 65 miles per hour. Now my tires are off and I heard a pop noise. THe tires are wearing uneven. Smooth going one way with your hand, rough as hell going the other. Would a bad sway bar link cause this? I hit a bump and it throws my car almost into another lane if it I hit the right one. Please help before I take this thing into a shop on monday and get ripped off. scottyKilmer

Re: Self driving cars. Baaaad idea. I'm assuming that there has to be infrastructure that goes along with this pre-determined fiasco. Who would pay for it? Certainly not the tight asses that would own these cars, for they are the ones that are politically connected, and it would become the rights of the few over the rights of the many, (did I say rights? I meant to say dollars) What would happen to the old car owners? Would they have to drive antique/classic/1998 junkers in special areas only? Speaking of infrastructure, lol, I live in Chicago, and have just seen a 10 bay Tesla charging station opened in an out of the way corner of a nearby multi-store (mall) parking lot. I live less than a third of a mile from this place, and am frequently driving past it at all different hours. I have yet to see anyone using it in the nearly 3 months that it's been around. go figure.

Scotty, I understand your point with Tesla and how you think you can't have self driving cars mixed in with people driving cars, but you need to understand that the computer can detect things faster than a human can, a computer programmed to self drive a car will definitely have better reflexes than a human would. A human might not notice something in his or her blind spot and switch lanes, but a self driving vehicle would. If a car merges into your Lane and doesn't see you and is about to collide with you, a self driving vehicle would realize quicker than a human and make the appropriate decisions with faster response time.

Automatic car washes use high ph soaps that strip the waxes. They also scratch a ton. If youre not a car guy or detailer, then its no biggie. But if you are, the two-bucket method works pretty good with your favorite soap. Foam cannons are optional but give better results. I usually do one panel at a time, rinse the mitt a couple times, then re-dunk and go to the next panel. Using a drying aid like Ammo Hydrate, Spray Wax, Quick Detailer helps reduce water spots. But my favorite car wash is the Meguiars Gold Class, paired with PS beadmaker. Great stuff on a budget and my customers seem to like it too

I worked at a place that makes glass tubes. The company put in a self packing machine. Sensors get dirty, malfunction, the computer messes up, ect ect. I don't believe autonomous cars will work. Everybody I know or talk about it with just assumes their workable. I'm not a believer in self driving vehicles. The car didn't even attempt to stop because of programming that hit the lady walking her bike across the street. The tesla's sensor messed up because of sunlight and you can't expect a human not to watch the road and pay full attention when the car drives itself. Its human nature.

When it comes to car washing. Buy a heated pressure washer, costs about the same as a cheap maaco paintjob, ironic. he he, probablyGet some purple power degreaser and plain old dawn soap. Mix em in a bucket with hot water. #1, use heated pressure washer spay it good to get all the crud off. #2 apply soap with sheep wool or micro fiber, scrub it like youre brushing your teeth. #3 long detail rinse with the heated pressure washer roof to rockers. #4 Buff and wax with a microfiber cloth or orbital buffer with same type booties, with mcguires showcar glaze.

Also avoid car washes that recycle the water if you can. Most are operated by mooks that don't maintain their equipment, so the filtration fails. And you end up with a car that has a nasty grey film all over it. Not really worth putting change in a machine for that kind of result. Best is to just use two buckets, one for rinsing the mitt and one for soapy suds. And use a microfiber mitt or wash pad that floats (sponge inside) so it doesn't pick up crap from the bottom of the bucket. That tends to work good enough so you don't need to get too fancy with it.

Google's self driving car got stuck at a stop sign because the human drivers around it kept doing rolling stops, and it confused the Google car. This was 10 years ago, but it just goes to show that AI driven cars expect other cars to follow the law, but humans are impatient and will always try to save time by breaking traffic laws. This ends up confusing the AI. I don't think we're quite ready for fully autonomous self driven cars, but the highways are a good place to start letting them run. Highways are a lot less complicated than city and town roads.

As a physicist who has a friend at Carnegie Mellon University who has been working on autonomous vehicles for 30 years I have to agree with Scotty on the self driving car issue. Artificial intelligence will steadily improve and perhaps the technology may be better than humans in the next decade. The society will take longer to accept it than most realize. They will have to make it illegal for a human to operate a vehicle or for the computer to completely over ride the human when there is a conflict detected to make it work. People will rebel.
