Several Iowa Pacific properties have filed for receivership, including the San Luis and Rio Grande (SLRG, the Saratoga and North Creek (S&NC, and the Mount Hood Railroad (MHRR, according to Trains Magazine as of this month, September 2019. There is talk that the Mount Hood Railroad will be seized by the Port of Hood River County, due to owing $220, 000. 00 in back taxes, and a lawsuit to their name. From what I've been told, Union Pacific may be purchasing the line from the County. I've also heard rumors that the entire Iowa Pacific Holdings (IPH) company owned by Ed Ellis, is going out of business completely. Apparently IPH is in deep financial trouble.

Hey Mike, I went to Bellevue, Ohio for my birthday. I'm 16 years old now. I got to see the Reading Heritage on Norfolk Southern. I saw 2 out of 20 NS Heritage units. I had a photograph next to the N&W diesel. I chased the Reading heritage with my family and I recorded a video in front of it at the crossing. Check out the NKP museum, Mike! It's fantastic!

I did this as a kid in the year 2000 or around there. I remember they had an open air car that you could walk around in, and in the middle of the trip we all got off and ate this huge farm style meal together. Awesome memory. Going to take my daughter on it I hope soon.

It's a great train ride! Been on it a couple of times. The train backs up for the first three miles out of Hood River to a switchback which is one of the last of its kind in the U. S. and then heads up grade going forward the rest of the way to Parkdale.

I heard the county is going to start seizing property from this railroad for failure to pay taxes in the last three years amounting to $210, 135. I wish they would just lock up Ed Ellis already before he commits more fraud and failures.

Nice video, great sound. That track appears to be lacking maintenance with voids under many ties. You can see how the train rocks so much, and see the track move up and down more than normal, like it's very old.
