HUGE Crackdown & Ban Around The Corner As Juul Debate Escalates. Epidemic Or Overblown? Simon Smith: I am 42, I started smoking like my wife and most of my friends did at around 14 so I was a heavy 2 pack a day smoker for over 25 years. I was starting to feel it, I was in pretty bad shape, it was catching up with me. I switched to vaping, at 39 I wasn't going to turn 40 as a smoker, I was done, I hated it, but couldn't get off of them, I tried it all, everything available, being bipolar cold turkey was NOT an option, cold turkey made me very sick, nothing worked, and it was going to kill me. So I made the switch, I didn't use pod based devices or salt nic devices, I started with a mod and a rebuildable tank, and 6mg menthol e liquid. I haven't smoked one single cigarette since. Since then, I have had many ct scans, regular xrays, exams, I even had a doctor tell me he couldn't tell I ever smoked, and had no idea I vaped, I sounded clean clear and healthy. My blood o2 levels are 98% my blood pressure is spot on normal, in just over 2 years, I have reversed a lot of the damage I had done and the health issues and complications I was having from smoking. My wife has experienced the same. It has been a positive change in our life, and improved our quality of life and health in general. I do not advocate youth to start using nicotine in any form, I urged my kids to never smoke. I don't believe an outright flavor ban is the answer at all. I was a menthol smoker, so I switched to menthol vape and yes it worked, I habe since weaned myself off of menthol flavor and no longer crave that, I also reduced my nicotine to 3mg and sometimes 1. 5mg. I did that with flavors. If it didn't taste good, I wouldn't have had the same incentive to give up smoking, and menthol and lower my nicotine, I didn't just quit cigarettes I actually enjoyed quitting, and vaping, flavored e liquid, has enabled me to quit and reduce my nicotine at my own pace, and I don't hate doing it. It has made the experience of quitting, much more tolerable, then anything that has ever been offered. Someday soon, I may put it down and never puff on it again, but until then, the more products I have available to me, the more likely I will be successful, and never return to tobacco ever again. As a side note, me and my wife used to drink lots of flavored vodka and peppermint shnops (spell check) and many other flavored alcoholic beverages as teens when we met. As well as non flavored beer and such, nothing stopped us from getting our hands on it. Flavored or not. Nothing stopped us from getting cigarettes either. Nothing stopped us from smoking weed either. I could go on. Fact is, if we wanted it, we got it. When there's a will there's a way. A flavor ban isn't going to stop anything. They sell food flavoring at Wal-Mart. You can't regulate humanity out of humans. It's not possible.

I started vaping after becoming terrifying addicted to cigarettes over the course of a single month. I was at a pack a day only three weeks after I started smoking. I come from a family of addicts, so I wasnt exactly surprised at how quickly it ramped up. So I started vaping, and while I know Im not doing as much damage to my lungs, my addiction to nicotine is there and in full swing. You tell yourself youll only vape with a low percentage and then suddenly youre smoking a 24%And make no mistake, juul pods might be sold at 5% but most people fill their own, and some of these juices are insane with how high their nicotine contents can be. My younger brother followed in my footsteps and started vaping at 17, no cigarettes, just vaping. He smokes more than I do. And make no mistake, it might be a safer alternative, but now that weve started neither of us can stop. Juul specifically seems like its blatantly targeting high schoolers. For every video about past smokers using it to steer away from cigarettes theres twenty videos of high school kids blowing smoke rings. And while Im concerned about the idea of getting rid of flavored juices, because the fact that vape doesnt taste like ass is one of the major reasons I havent gone back to cigarettes, theres got to be some sacrifice here. Theres no question that children are getting their hands on these products, go to any high school and youll see, its not just some bs statistic, there are tons of kids vaping at the edge of school properties, the ones who are barely 18 providing to kids who arent. Its easier to get your hands on vapes than it is with cigarettes. Its easier to hide too, the smell isnt there, you dont need to light anything or get rid of ash or butts. With the way things are going theres no doubt in my mind that this epidemic will just get worse.

I am 47. i smoked from the age of 12. Yes wrong crowd for me but there were millions of other kids the same age smoking so it did not seem like a strange thing to do. I smoked for an additional 29 years and there were some semi-serious and serious attempts to quit but my problem was not the nicotine it was the habit itself that was so rooted into everything i did like after meals or driving in a car etc. Then along came vaping. I started in 2010 officially but the product was so bad and so expensive that it was not even a consideration. I tried vaping again in 2011 fail but at the end of 2011 i tried it again only this time i introduced vaping very slowly. I was a pack a day smoker so i took 2 cigs out of the pack in the morning and replaced the after meal cig with a vape. Over a six month period i was a full time vaper after reducing the number of cigs i smoked and making vaping my main source of my habit. It was the easiest way to quit smoking for me. I think people need to understand that not everyone can go cold turkey no matter how good the vape product is. I always recommend this way of transitioning to vaping and reinforce that it is ok to do so no matter what anyone says you just do not have to do the cold turkey and ANY reduction in smoking is a step in the right direction. FLAVORS KEEP ME OFF REAL CIGS. FLAVORS SAVE LIVES The FDA is trying to tell me I am wrong for liking flavors because i am an adult? Since when is the government allowed to tell me what to like and what not to like. If he Gotlieb takes flavors away he is giving a death sentence to a lot of x-smokers. I quit smoking using a tobacco flavor but i was getting really tired of that flavor and by having a choice of flavors is what kept/keeps me vaping. Adults are flavor lovers too

Im 25 years old and I am the guardian to my 15 year old brother and 14 year old sister. I started sneaking cigarettes when I was there age and have spent the last 10 years on and off from smoking. I smoked a ton in high school and then one day quit because it was gross, and still is gross, to me and did so for many years. But Again I have started up for a few months then quit for a long time. I hate that I have the urge to smoke at times and wish as a kid I never would have picked up a cigarette. I do have a vape but find that I dont get same satisfaction from it but always try to go to that before a cigarette. I think its overall a great alternative for smokersThe vaping culture in high school however is absolutely ridiculous. My brother and sisters school has a reward system for students who report on campus vaping. The bathrooms are clogged with kids vaping during transition between classes instead of them using the bathroom. Kids even try to sneak puffs in the classroom and make it some sort of game. I think its incredibly alarming that this has become a trend. On many occasions my brother and sister have asked me to purchase a vape pen for them and they are 100% serious. They claim other parents dont mind if their children vape even with nicotine in them. (Not sure how true this is but it wouldnt surprise me. Its become a cool thing to do. They see videos of people vaping and doing trick and think it looks fun. That is alarming to me. I dont have anything to add to the content of the video just sharing the impacts vaping has on children I care for.

I run a vape shop myself and I can not even begin to count how many people have successfully quit smoking just in the area that I operate in. Yes, we do get underage kids that attempt to buy vapor products, but obviously they don't get served. On top of that I see that a big part of these children are looking for 0 milligram nicotine e liquid. A lot of kids know what nicotine is, how addicting it is and when offered a 0mg option, most of them will choose not to vape with nicotine. YOUTH SMOKING RATES are at an ALL TIME LOW, and this should be enough proof for the FDA to see that vaping is not a gateway to traditional tobacco for kids. We've proven that vaping is appr. 95% healthier than regular traditional tobacco, but even if it were to be only 5% healthier, it would still be worth having all smokers switch to vaping. First we need to kill the tobacco industry, after that it's time to look at vaping. I do wish that JUUL would offer a 0 milligram option, just like most other e liquid companies already do and have done for years. Without the 0mg option you cannot tell me your goal is improving public health. If the FDA really thinks flavours are the issue, I wonder why flavoured alcohol is still allowed to be sold. Why take away a mango flavoured e liquid, but not a mango flavoured vodka. JUUL is producing an presenting a product for adults, and they should not be to blame for kids getting their hands on it. You should blame and fire Kevin, the shitty cashier that's too lazy to ID youngsters at your local gas station.

42 years old, I smoked for 29 years, tried to quit multiple times with patches, gum, and cold Turkey. Never tried chantix, because its terrifying side effects. The only thing that has worked, is vaping, and it worked day one. My first vaping set up was bought, and my last cigarette smoked the same day, and have never looked back. One thing I want to point out, is we do have 10 year studies already out, the Royal College of Physicians are responsible for the longest current study, and they found vaping 95% less harmful than smoking. There are many studies being widely ignored by so called public health officials, greatly due to their donors being pharmaceutical companies, who are in direct competition with the vaping industry. Please, keep looking into this, the truth is out there, and it's easily spotted, and keeping one's eyes open for who the people releasing studies are, and who their donors are. Much like with big tobacco in the past and the sugar industry, the science against vaping is bought and paid for. But there are many independent studies, peer reviewed, that are truthful and all point to a much less harmful product. Also, the FDA narrative is relying heavily on past 30 day use, not regular use. When regular use is looked at, more teens will try to commit suicide than vape. 10 times more will abuse alcohol, twice as many will abuse prescription pain killers. Yet the FDA is doing nothing about anything except e-cigs. That should worry people.

Vaping has saved my family and our future. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for almost 15 years and started at the age of 12. Honestly kids are no different now and they will continue to get their hands on things they see as rebellious or cool or for adults only. I am all for preventing youth vaping but honestly would you rather them smoking or vaping given the choice. The only thing that got me to quit was vaping and specifically blue raspberry slushie flavored eliquid. What baffles me is that people dont shed this much light on the opioid epidemic or alcohol or cigarettes? Why? Because of the MONEY State and federal government agencies take in billions of dollars from tobacco taxes and the MSA. Also why is it okay to have a million different child appealing alcohol flavors. The truth of it is that the FDA, Pharmaceutical companies, and Big Tobacco hate vaping because of the Money they are losing from its success I believe we need regulations but flavor bans and prohibitions on vaping will only succeed at 2 things preventing smokers from quitting tobacco=Death and putting money into the above mentioned peoples hands. tobacco and alcohol kill over 500, 000 people yearly not including opiate addiction. yet the fda and the truth initiative and elected officials are focused on Life Saving Vapor products? Phil you need to checkout a fellow YouTuber GrimmGreen and his 510 report videos for the truth.

FFS this whole e cig flavor issue is so asinine. The fact that there are so many tasty flavors is literally one of the main reasons people that smoke analogue cigs try vaping and decide to switch to vapes permanently. Adults like tasty stuff too, theyre not deliberately marketing it towards kids its just that kids and adults both like tasty stuff. Im all for hardcore age restrictions. Hardcore as in carding each and every single sale of nicotine products no matter what form or how obviously of age the customer is. For instance on the backs of drivers licenses is a scannable code image thing. It should be literally impossible to buy nicotine products without something like an id to scan for every sale. All in store sales systems should require an id scan with no ability to override that requirement not even by the store manager even if the customer is visibly like 65 yrs old. Ensuring the systems are in place would be part of whatever routine inspections occur in order to continue to be allowed to sell anything with nicotine in it. If that system doesnt pass inspection, huge ass fine. But dont you DARE punish us adults just because kids are being rebellious and sneaky. Theyve been doing that ever since kids became a thing.

Im sorry but as an adult that strictly enjoys vaping my fruity and dessert flavors, I hate to admit that I would absolutely go back to traditional cigarettes if the government overstepped their authority and banned those flavors. Its bad enough that traditional cigarettes and alcohol are still sold without blaming the companies that make and sell them for kids getting their hands on both, but this whole idea of saving the kids by banning something thats at the very least extended my own life and is recognized by the Royal College of Physicians to be AT LEAST a 95% safer alternative, but they just dont have the right. Period. These restrictions will do nothing to prevent underaged kids from getting their hands on them, bc kids by nature want to do what they arent supposed to do. My source: was a kid. This argument is a lie at its base. The tobacco industry has been reeling from the decline in cig usage, the states all have settlement agreements that pays them millions annually based off of sales, and this threatens and has been threatening the dollar amounts paid to the state and federal governments. Now whats the Truth. Lying assholes

The issue is the government, big tobacco and big pharmaceutical companies want people to stop vaping and go back to smoking, at any age. The vaping industry has put a dent in the revenue for those entities, the irony is those entities are loosing money (sin taxes and sales) so every piece of evedance that showes the benefits of vaping and how much it halos people quit is hurting the industry. Vaping was aroung for nearly a decade before anyone batted an eye at it because usage of vapor products was relatively low, as more people started to quit smoking they were no longer feeding the machine so vaping needs to be stopped so those users will return to tobacco. The reason they are not going after alcohol is that there is no alternative to it so the revenue is fairly safe. The reality is that the powers that be want more people smoking again to keep making more money, and thy are using flavors and underaged usage as scapegoats or catalysts to achieve that end because it is way mor profitable to feed and treat an illness rather then fixing or curing it.
