This reminds me of when I would email my friend from China. During the summer I would email her through my gmail account. She never responded. When we reconnected. It turns out, she did receive my emails and responded. I obviously never got them. Idk if that was censorship or not. There were many other ways to communicate with her so it didn't really matter, but it was still bizarre. Other things like Instagram are illegal to use and if my friends ever posted while they were in China they would have to pay a fine. I see Google making this a cash grab. Helpinh a country disregard people's rights so they can make money is disgusting

On the note of Youtube RED, I got it a year ago so I could watch Buddy System and the Vsauce show. I chose to keep it for three reasons: 1. No ads. I repeat, no. Ads. 2. The Google music app is connected and amazing. 3. I have added people to my account as gifts. People don't want to pay for YouTube, but everyone watches it sometimes. I hope that Youtube makes this change. I loved Buddy System and Vsauce's intellectual dive, and I recommended them to people all the time. It sucked because no one had Red. Content on Youtube shouldn't be on different levels. These are not HBO late night specials

Censorship in China is savage. It means that the people there dont know shit about the outside world. My friends in Sichuan will message me asking the most basic information. Just the other day my Chinese friend me a photo of Paris and ask where it was. Google going into China wont fix their govrrnents view on censorship. The current government will never let back on censorship as it will cause a lot of unrest in the country. What google will do is make so much more information available to the people of China

Question on the Google censorship. What if the compromise was that at a regular frequency (weekly, monthly, etc, Google provided a summary report on the type of content that was being censored. I. e. if you were in America doing the same search, you would have also seen the following. I believe this could provide actual quantitative and qualitative information on the role of censorship in China which foreign governments could then use to pressure the Chinese government in reducing censorship. MHO

I hate when people are like It's 2018 why does it matter if people think you're gay? or worse Oh they said came out, who cares? Just because a lot of people accept it doesn't mean everyone does. I still have people give me weird looks when they find out in bi. They don't say anything but the judgement is there and it's not a great feeling. I'm glad he acknowledged and admits that he feels insecure about it but also wish he doesn't great about caring so much. It's a very valid way to feel.

Every once in a while, I'll come across a man who just has to ask me if I was born a woman, if I've had the procedure, etc. Do I have anything against trans women or men? Absolutely not. But that doesn't mean I'm okay with people thinking I was born a man, even though there's nothing wrong with that. People need to stop being outraged that other people don't want to be called something they're not

I 100 percent dont think Shawn is homophobic. It sucks when you have a label put on you when you're not that and yes there are stigma on stuff like that. Hell, there's this woman who's dating a minor music star who I follow on Twitter who happens to be a trans man and she gets so so much shit for it. Like people saying her past with domestic violence turned her gay even though she identifies as straight. So like yeah I get how he feels tbh especially with how young he is and image.

It makes me sad because he obviously doesnt want to be portrayed to be something hes not, so cant do things that he wants to do in fear of that speculation. Shawn was scared of wearing that sparkly makeup because of the rumours that would start that he was gay - isnt that the same as when gay men have to act hyper masculine when not out the closet to avoid rumours of them being gay? Its sad that he feels he cant do feminine things in fear of being labelled as something hes not: (
