HORRIFYING! We Need To Talk Violent Protests, Police Aggression, Confusion in the Chaos, & More Evie: 7: 00 do not trust anything the police says. In Chile, police officers would set fire to tyres, military police would set a supermarket on fire, and allegedly dragged 3 corpses inside.
They did so much worse, in civilian cars, in civilian clothes. They also started using fake names on their clothes so they couldn't be recognised.
They also set a electricity company base on fire, or tried to, it didn't catch. They barged into a hospital fully armed and threw tear gas at the people in it. They enjoyed kicking unarmed civilians who were on their way home after curfew. Arrested people for no reason, and tortured and raped arrested people.
Chile is not a third world country. Chile and the US resemble each other in a lot of ways. Be careful now while you protest, and try to film everything they do.

To Whoever Reads This,
I suffer from a lot of anxiety, and this situation is nothing short of terrifying for me. I know reading this would help me, and I don t think I m alone in feeling scared about all of this. So, I don t know who you are, and we ll probably never meet. If you re scared and horrified, I am too. Change needs to happen and all lives matter. If you re feeling angry, your feelings are valid. If you re feeling frightened, your feelings are valid too. During these times, it s easy to feel like the world is chaotic and you re alone. It s something I struggle with a lot. I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe. Never let anyone tell you that your voice doesn t matter or that you re not important. I hope that we can all heal after days like today. If you kept reading all the way through this, thank you. To everyone peacefully protesting, I hope you all stay safe and that we achieve real change. To everyone like me who s scared or anxious, you re not alone. I want to say it ll all be okay, but I don t know what okay will look like after this. I m not even sure how to end this. Just everyone, stay safe, and let s hope for a brighter tomorrow.

I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed in this episode, Phil. I agree with every single thing you said and showed here, but as someone I often praise as being generally fair and unbiased in your reporting, I am fairly bothered by the fact that you ONLY covered and showed cops and white people instigating violence and vandalism. The police and people in those clips are wrong and it does/did happen as well, and I applaud you for covering it and bringing it to light. However, the fact that you chose to only show and cover those fuels the conspiracy theories, when you know it's not just cops and undercover white people instigating these situations. There are tons of videos of people of all colors, rioters and cops crossing the line. It's just disappointing to see you of all people reporting it like this. You should be highlighting all of these things, but you _shouldn't_ be leaving out the rest and pretending it doesn't exist. It isn't as if this is the vast majority and the rest is a tiny fringe.

Police have been trained to target people of color this has always been my reality
now with advances in technology it has become too difficult to hide their crimes against
the black population.
Other people of different races and belief have been incensed by the brutal actions
of the police.
Enough so that they take to protest. But in protest I beg you to be mindful don't allow them
an excuse I have long been aware and that my best defense and only recourse in survival
is evidence.
Make use of camera's as well as any technology you have to make certain their acts are seen.
My heart has bled for my brothas N sistas now it bleeds for my brethren of all race and belief.
I don't want to see the police kill you too.
A badge indicates duty to protect and serve not license to kill.
We aren't here asking for equal rights just civil rights.
We only ask to be treated as human beings.

Dont let people take the narrative away. They had their time to protest about covid. About shutdown. About anything. This is about george floyd. This is about cops abusing their power. About turning a blind eye to those actions. This about the injustice that black americans are dealing with. So dont take it over with your story. It is not your time. And do not take advantage of this moment. Anything bad just allows them tto change that narrative. To turn the victims into the villians. I know tensions are high with this virus and this is just adding fuel to the fire. But what is happening is not okay. Innocent people are dying. All because of a cop who thought he was above the law. I am not okay with this injustice. We the people, all of us, need to stand up for what is right. And what happened to george Floyd is not right. And that is what we need to focus on right now. End racism. Stand up for george.

All this footage is so incredibly hard to watch and extremely heartbreaking. Coming from a country where police are seen mostly as trustworthy and good, I want to say that we have to see these protests from their perspective and how dangerous it is for them. But I just can't. This brutal behavior is unwarranted and started seemingly without reason. I agree with Amnesty International's view that police officers are way too decked out for peaceful protest and that it can give them the impression of using violence as the only option.
The government doesn't seem to do the best job either. Initiating curfews is only another way to keep protests from happening and giving police violence legitimization. I hope this will end soon, without more people getting killed. I want everyone to be able to stand for the right thing, but I pray they can do it as safely as possible.

A top tip for dealing with a rowdy national guard member: pull the little cord in their vest below their throat. It drops their vest off them like a sack of horse shit so if they re getting in your face and being aggressive, then pulling the cord can buy you some time to get away from them while they pick their shit up. Also if someone seems super enthusiastic about smashing shit/are trying to persuade you to damage things, then ignore them, don t engage. They re a cop. So are people only who ask you questions online about protests. (Eg: how do you know where to go for protests? Or I really wanna go to a protest, are you going to one? ) They re trying to get info from you and even if you don t agree with what s going on, it s still generally agreed that being a rat is scummy af.

As per usual you've tried to take a messured approach while broaching this sensitive nuanced situation. I think you could have represented the multiple angles better, such as showing the rest of the kneeling cop clip where his partner drags the knee off the man's neck, I think you could have shown the clip of the peaceful protestors preventing a man from ripping up the curb presumably for ammunition and few other lesser seen examples of where people's head spaces are at. That being said I don't think any one person or perspective will be able to adequately present this horrendous situation in its entirety and what you've already done is extremely commendable.

Hey Phil I'm not sure if you've been made aware yet, but there's news on Twitter coming out that minutes after some (again, SOME) police departments such as Detroit, Orlando, and Portland PDs posted about being in solidarity with protesters, those police donned their helmets and began pushing the crowd back and pepper spraying them. They're faking solidarity to the masses then turning the protest in front of them into a riot in order to 1) justify using force and 2) make the impact of a narrative where the protesters started the violence that much more believable. This is a cruel and underhanded way of twisting the narrative in their favor.
