I think the people that are getting upset about the blackface situation are forgetting what the point of blackface was. It was from a very long time ago when it was socially acceptable to impersonate black people (in general) usually in a mocking way. This would be attacking black people. In these more recent situations they are not mocking black people in general but particular black people. I don't see this as any different than a black person dressing up as a particular white person. I do think that maybe it was a bit short sighted, but also it was from 2000 so I think its safe to say something like that would not have been done in todays climate by someone as notable as Jimmy Fallon. Today it would just be suicide, and I think Fallon would agree that today he would have not dared to do something like that even if he wanted to. Plus, he's already apologized for it. I agree with the viewpoint that we have bigger fish to fry.

Whether people admit it or not twitter as a company and their platform in general leans to the left. Not only that, anti conservative bias does happen by often labelling conservative voices as hate speech when they're not. I'm all for banning nazis and any other kinds of extremists, but imo twitter's labels aren't 100% calibrated and so they misjudge people and orgs sometimes. Because of this twitter shouldn't interfere with what Trump says. Even if u disagree with me about there being a leftist leaning, recognise that there's a big cloud of doubt about it. Because of this many people can't look at twitter as being impartial. So while Trump lies and people should be brought attention to those lies and told the truth, it shouldn't be by twitter's enforcement imo

Regarding Jimmy Fallon, it illustrates the problem with Progressives/Liberals today and why people all over the world are electing governments that are Right leaning and have anti-Progressive values. They have set up impossible standards just by wanting to one-up one another in their wokeness. They have handled delicate and nuanced cases with over-zealous knuckleheadedness instead of with maturity and commonsense. Human brain evolves slowly, and you have to make people feel comfortable with the change they are experiencing. Rushing to prove yourself more woke and thus setting up impossible standards is not the way that happens. One needs to handle complex issues with nuance and carefulness in order to make real progress, not throw XYZ is over parties.

I think it's ridiculous that Twitter continually cancels people for one thing they did 20 plus years ago. Especially when it 9 times out of 10 the thing in question wasn't even seen as wrong at the time. We as a societey recognized a long time ago that it makes absolutely zero sense to punish people for crimes they committed before something was made illegal. Why is social morality treated any differently? When someone deserves to be canceled for their behavior it should be consistent. If they did one bad thing 20 years ago but have clearly changed their views and behavior it is so damaging and counter productive to punish them. Why then should anyone be motivated to change or to become a better person?

1. Do I think twitter needs to put those disclaimers on trump's tweets? No, the people can decide for themselves, they don't need links to MSM. 2. Are they censoring trump or taking away his freedom of speech? Absolutely not, trump is being a huge crybaby. If they did remove his posts or his account (like mika brezenski and kamala harris want) that would be censoring his 1A, however. Just as bad, it would legitimize him. 3. Trump threatening to shut them down is even dumber. I thought that was at the heart of conservatism: private companies can do their own thing. To get mad and try to shut them down is a very leftist snowflakian thing to do, but here is trump and his supporters calling for it. WHAT!

As someone who lives in England I would be genuinely scared to live in America right now as the man you got as a leader does nothing but make bullocks up all day, put fear into everything and make something that is so catastrophic to the world seem like nothing. I just dont get it and plus all the people that blindly follow him is scary he just wants to create chaos I can even see him attempt to force himself back into the president place of power once he loses the election. Like I know everywhere is a shit show at the moment but America your are a diarrhoea show at the moment. Also its 2 in the morning and I dont give a toss if my spelling or punctuation is correct I'm to tired to care

I'll be honest, I don't think it was blackface and back then it kinda was a different time. Tyra Banks got in trouble for having the AMTM girls do cross race shoots. If it doesn't take work away from someone of color and isn't done to mock the race I don't think it has to be malicious. I personally have a bigger issue when people of color don't get rolls they deserve. Like people are talking about casting Disney's live action Hercules and naming a bunch of white chicks for Meg. I'd like to see Disney make most the cast greek as much as possible and it would feel like a shame to see it all be white actors. Sorry that went on a tangent.

It's Stifling free Speech? what? Your still allowed to say that stuff but that doesn't make it true, If i say if Planet X is coming tomorrow and Twitter puts facts checks on my stuff its still me saying it freely just with links to other people saying other stuff on it giving people the chance to come to their own conclusion. I personally don't wanna get infected by being around a massive amount of people and possible infect the ones I love. and if Trump does do stuff so twitter can't continue to work as it does it might cost him the re-election because there's millions that use that platform

Maybe I'm finally getting old, but I thought Blackface was more specific then that. I'm talking the literal coal black/shoe polish face and bright red lips. Like in old ads and black Americana from the late 1800's early 1900's and later, that racist caricature. Either way, the intent of it matters. Comedians are supposed to be characters, making a parody of society, and has anyone asked Chris Rock his opinion? And on top of all that, it was 20 years ago! You can't take things from decades ago and apply them to the now. Times change, and that's a good thing.
