Why does Belarus Exist? Documentary Sphere723: Nations are about what people want for the future, not what happened in the past. I think most Belarusians today are united in not wanting to be controlled by the Kremlin. To have their own, independent government in Minsk which answers to the Belarusian people. I think what you saw on the streets of Belarusian cities in 2020 and 2021 show that yes, the Belarus does exist as a nation and the violent and oppressive tactics of two specific men can only succeed in suppressing that reality for so long.

I believe it did kind of exist in a form before modern times. RIght before the Mongol invasions and rise of Poland/lithuaian there was a Kievian succussor state called White Ruthenian existing along with other succesor states like Red Ruthenian Smolensk, Vladimir, Muscovy, Tver, Pskov, Ryzan, Galatia(which poland quickly ate, and quite a few more i cant remember the names of right now. But White ruthenian and Smolensk borders prettymuch correlate to modern day Belarus

Why exactly doesn't the crushing of their revolt invalidate the Belarusian claim to being a people? Is there any proof that they are a distinct people? And why am I wasting time typing a comment about something that isn't actually important to anyone even though a bunch of people may think it is?

My German teacher was Belarusian. She looked like a doll (In the sense she was beautiful and had nice clothes) and was about my same age. I tried to make friends with her but nothing. She was like a wall. She was a great teacher and has been the best German prof I had

Anexation?
It was an agression/invasion not annexation.
During that, annexation died about 2, 5-3 thousands Soviet soldiers and 6-7 thousands Polish defenders.
It was a brutal invasion not annexation!
