Most people praise Chulalongkorn for all the improvements he did, but it was his father King Mongkut who was the revolutionary laid the foundation, set the the nation's trajectory and did most of the hard work. Chulalongkorn may have completed the arch by laying down the last brick, but his father Mongkut laid 99% of the bricks.
Mongkut was a Buddhist monk for 27 years before he became king, and it during this time that he took the initiative to form strong friendships with European religious officials and become educated in Western theology, philosophy and science. He then went on to educate his children in the same way by hiring a British teacher (the historical events that inspired the story -Anna and the King (The King and I)-.

You give wrong information The Kingdom of Khom is not Khmer. Khmer is Cambodia. The first king of the Khmers was King Trasok Praam. It was a country in the year 1300. which corresponds to the Ayutthaya period in Siam. Later, Khmer became a colony of Siam in 1782 until the French colonized and took Khmer from Siam in 1895.
But the Khom Kingdom existed before the Buddha's time and became the Funan Kingdom in 68-627 AD. Later it was the Kingdom of Siam and became the Kingdom of Thailand until now. I request you to verify this information because it is deliberately distorted by Western academics and does not match the evidence available in most Asian countries.

Thanks for the video of my country, that's the real history of Thailand. Our ancestors became very powerful when the Khmer empire collapsed. I respect and know that khmer empire was a very big and powerful empire for over 600 years. They were in this region a very big top empire at that time. It's same like Mongolian empire or roman empire etc. They all have their best time and collapsed.

The name is -Phraya Taksin- as in Tak-sin not -Phraya Taskin- you should learn how to pronounce the names right if you-re gonna present it in such educational manner. I just know the source was not proofed by any Thai person at all so it is okay to use this video to learn the overall history of Thailand but definitely not in details

The Mon culture, as others have mentioned.
The Lanna Kingdom, which joined with Ayutthaya to form Siam.
And if you think the 2017 constitution was intended to restore democracy. well, that's an strange conclusion to draw from the facts.

First of all, be clear that Khom is not Khmer so Khmer was just the slave of the Khom there was the Khom Empire, not the Khmer Empire. Siam destroyed the Khmer after a Khmer slave killed the Khom King (who was related to Siam) and took over the Empire after that Siam kept attacking the Khmer for revenge

As far as I know, Thai people prefer to be recognized as Chinese culture rather than Indian culture even though Indian culture is their starting point. From food culture to fashion, they try to be like East Asia but I think their essence is still Thai and it is very difficult to change their essence.

Thai has stolen Khmer lands, it's people and culture as well which this documentary did not mention. For example in 1431 when Thai sacked the Angkor Watt, Cambodia today and they took Khmer artists, high priests, philosophers, teachers and more than 250, 000 to 500, 000 back to Ayutthaya.

As a Mon, I'm so sad upon seeing early Mon cultures and kingdoms in Thai history were cut out in this video. As Mon founded the earliest civilizations in Thailand like Dvaraviti and Harbujaya, I think they deserve some parts in this video.
