5 Differences Between Cat and Dog People

Did you know that whether you're more of a dog person or cat person hints a bit about your personality? NOTE Vensson: Its pretty easy to understand the differences.
If youre an outgoing friendly person who likes company and doing active things with friends - you like dogs
If youre introverted, not active (or you do indoor rockclimbing, you prefer to argue with people online than to actually socialise, basically if youre a hipster - you like cats.
Dogs are a lifestyle, you have to take care of a dog.
Cats are walking houseplants. You still have to clean up all their and they do inside the house everyday, but sometimes you can sit with them.
Ive had 9 cats and 2 dogs. I lived near a farm and the cats would help kill any vermin, dogs were for being pets. Oldest dog is still alive but hes super old right now. Hes nearly 16.

I have come to the conclusion that the reason why so many dog people hate cats but cat people seem to be ok with dogs is because it is very easy to get along with dogs, dogs tend to love all people easily, they are simple pets.
I think that not all people understand cats, cats will not love easily, you have to earn their trust, also they usually choose only one or two people to love. I think you get cats or you don't, They are not for everyone. They are more like mates than pets.
So cat people can get along with cats and dogs easily. They just prefer the company of cats.
Dog people can't connect with cats even if they try, so they hate them and prefer dogs.

Two things I like to add; I think cat people just have a different form of contientiousness as opposed to measurability; they're more abstract and streamlined, but dogs have a more compartmentalized or simplistic view of situations, for convenience. And another thing that I find that differentiates them is their way of making friends. I find that dog people like to invest their time equally among their friends and relationships, whereas cat people want to feel special and not just treated like a social ornament, like their investment has an appropriate pay-off, which ties in with their need of gradual exposure for trustworthiness.

This also explains why extroverts hate introverts. The extroverts I meet talk your ear off about themselves, expect you to worship them for everything they do, and get offended when you have a life that doesn't revolve around them 24/7.
It's no wonder they get along with dogs, they want something that is blindly loyal and affectionate, something that is entirely dependent on them and lives only for them, something they can control, something that won't talk back. Everything cats and most humans will not be.
Kind of eye opening when you really think about it.

The Big Five is pseudoscience, and so is this video.
Sure, some psychologists have used the Big Five. But psychologists such as Sigmund Freud also believed that overdosing women on opium and cocaine would be an effective and reasonable cure for lack of libido, even if it killed them.
The root of the problem was the lack of use of the scientific method. Hence why it's labeled as pseudoscience.
It's as scientific as acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, and cupping therapy. That is to say, not at all

I like both but I'm a cat person. I just understand them better. I grew up with a cat and when I meet a dog I greet it friendly and pretty much ignore it afterwards, cause that's what I would do with cats, because it's up to the cat to decide if you are gonna be friends or not. But dogs aren't like that and they always end up not caring about me because I ignore them. We just don't speak the same language.

Having a dog is just like having a best friend - you both know you're looking out for each other.
Cats are like room mates, have to put up with each other, may or may not like each other, or, one likes the other, but the other don't. no idea whether he/she is going to come back tonight.
I would prefer to live with my best friend over some random room mate.

You said cat/dog people are more [__blank___] but couldn't it also be read as if you are a cat/dog person you are more likely to be [__blank__]. As opposed to increase in [__blank__] quality of every single individual dog/cat person, rather increase in number of people with said quality in each group (individual not conforming to the satistics)

#Fun Fact. Did you guys know Sociopathic Narcissists with psychopath tendencies pet of choice are actually cats. And did you know that a Crocodile will only kill out of necessity, from being hungry, while cats will kill multiple animals in 1 day from plain boredom.
Cats are Evil little demons spawns.

I don't hate dogs but I've been a cat person my whole life although I've had a couple of family dogs along with cats growing up, I've always done better with cats, the cat person is pretty much me to a T, but I am sympathetic to others people needs haha, definitely a lot more introverted.

my personality itself is a totally cat person, but I LOVE DOGS not that I hate cats I love and respect animals but I never see myself being with a cat. Although, my Yorkie is a cat-dog he acts like a total cat affectionate whenever he wants, demand stuff, very stubborn and has an attitude
reply

People say I act more like a cat but I like dogs more,
I love how open they are and an opposite of me
While I do have cats as pets, all I could remember with them is how distant and cold they are to me: ( I was really young at that time and I kinda took it as rejection lol

Cat ppl are more Neurotic? Not so sure about that. I know ppl who are strictly dog ppl and extremely neurotic, also. try visiting the dog park. the quirkiest most neurotic ppl ever all contained within the fences of the park. just saying!

I think ever peraon is a mixture of cat and dog behaviour some might be more of dog and less of a cat and some might be more of a cat and less of a dog
And there is always possibility of being equaly dog and cat person

reply

neither, both are disgusting and dirty, and how people let pets lick them on their face, mouth is so gross, these animals lick their bits and then they lick your face with the same, humans are de-evolving ewwwwwwwww gross
reply

I have a cat and a dog. But the dog acts more like a cat. He refuses to do tricks like giving paws an to sit or going in his bed if asked. But he is able to understand and learn very complicated things, when necessary.

I was a dog person for years but when I adopted a black cat 2 years ago, I just fell in love. Although I love both my current dog and cat. Well I have some personalities of the dog person and some of the cat person.

I'm a vegetarian and respect all animals but I can't help but think most cats would eat their owner if suddenly they were shrunk down smaller than the cat. I think most dogs wouldn't. That makes me love dogs more.
reply

The animal need to be friendly. If not, It does not matter to me if it is a cat or a dog, I wont like him. Too friendly though (like wanting pets from EVERYONE and going for it, I dont like this either.

Agreeableness' can be Gullibility. Just saying. All assessment of others doesn't mean non-empathetic nor does it mean not nice. It just means you don't willy-nilly give yourself away.
reply

I am 100% a cat person and I fit everything they said about cat people except that I have far right political views - I remember reading that Pat Buchanan likes cats too!
reply

i love all animals but as a pet I choose cats because of their more independent nature than dogs, as long as food and litter box is there, no need to worry much for them.
reply

I do like dogs but I am a cat person. For 3 of these traits I was shown to be a cat person and 2 of them I was shown to be a dog person, so it's pretty accurate.
reply

Haah? So ok the more I listen this the more I both agree with it and also notice that every dog person I know owns a cat and also the other way around.
