my best friend is in a horribly abusive relationship, he always tells her how dumb she is, checks her phone regularly, cheated on her a few times, physically threatened her with a knife and beat her up multiple times. theyve broken up and got back together multiple times and hes actually told her AND me that hes not even sorry separately to our faces. she keeps telling me to let it go but its gotten so intense that im scared for her safety and i just cant. i honestly dont know what to do. she recognizes that shes in a horrible situation and told her mom about it but secretly keeps dating him. im scared to bring it up anymore cause every time i do she just shuts off, i dont yell at her or tell her that its her fault i just keep pointing out the horrific shit he does to her and telling her that she deserves better but she doesnt listen anyway and told me that ill never understand. i love her so much and i just want to get her away but i dont want to push it cause im scared shell just stop confiding in me. this secret is honestly suffocating me, i cant tell my friends cause theyd tell her and i cant tell any adult (were both 17) cause theyd go straight to the police. even if they did, the cops arent gonna do anything without proof. i just cant keep waiting until he gets the guts to actually kill her.

One of my friends is currently in a toxic relationship. The toxic person is friends with the only judge in the town and is supposedly putting them in jail tomorrow without a trial. They haven't done anything wrong and they see what's wrong with the relationship but when they stay with the tp(toxic person) the tp says they are stealing qhatever they use in the house and if they don't do anything at all they get shouted at for not doing anything to help. I have no idea how to help. (Btw their getting put in prison because their being forced to pay a huge fine for what they stole or they get put in jail. But they don't have a job and the tp isn't letting them get a job or go to a job interview. They are still young and if they get put in jail they'd be there for the rest of their life) How do I help?

From someone whose friends went through this multiple times, theres another piece of advice: its not gonna go by your timeline. It is not a thing of, oh Ill tell you once, now you get it right? All of us are stuck in our ways and patterns and a person needs to learn to see it for themselves. Its like telling a depressive person to just be happy, just break up is not going to happen and even if, there might be a long road ahead of your friend, starting to unpack their own patterns. Even if youd like to shake them and tell them to wake up, its just not that easy. Be patient and loving with your friends, even if they do things you have a really hard time to wrap your head around. At the end of the day, we just all need someone by our side even if were making unhealthy, wrong decisions

What if you're the person they call when it goes wrong crying, telling what a jerk he/she is knowing they are being gaslit, ignored, cheated on, accepting hot & cold behaviour. You tell them they deserve better, they are intelligent and high functioning only for them to go back to the said person to play happy families. Now she/he is talking about having babies. There's nothing you can do is the truth and I'm not an emotional dumping ground or psychologist. It's depressing to watch and boring to keep listening. I'd say slowly move on and leave them to it. They have to find their way. you'll find they never usually leave.

I really wished I had watched this video a few month ago. One of my closest friends just got out of a very toxic relationship who was her first ever at 15 and now she's 16. They dated for 6 months and for a while me and our other friend were kinda annoyed assuming she preferred him over us but in reality that's probably when she needed us most. I really wish a had put into realization what was actually happening. In hindsight I should have done all of these things when I didn't. She's all good now but we all learned a lot from it.
