Im not sure if im an hsp or not. Something ive noticed about myself is that im highly critical about myself, i dont take criticism very well even if its not mean or anything. I definitely dont take anger well, if someones angry with me i spiral into my own criticism where i tell myself all the things ive done wrong and why im such i horrible person. And if someone actually yells at me i can hold it in until i get to a spot where no one can see me but then i just cry and hate myself. But when Im happy im really happy, I feel like im on cloud nine. Then theres my empathy. I feel extreme emotion towards others and understand everything and get all sides of the story. But i dont tend to have a hard time with loud noises or new spaces and loving hanging with friends. I do need time away from friends though but im not bothered by crowds or loudness. So am i still an hsp?

As an Hsp I recognise all types and traits mentioned, more or less. I don't really get why they're dividing hsps in types and don't believe there's enough science to back this video up. All people are different because we have different characters and upbringings besides the fact if we're highly sensitive or highly intelligent. But if you really want to know if you are an Hsp you have to recognize a lot of the traits. Also IQ can be tested and if you're highly intelligent there is a bigger chance you're highly sensitive aswell. The intellectual type described here is true for every highly gifted person, but there's so much more to it.

I'm definitely the emotional one. Years ago after a big blizzard in my town, I was pumping gas and the ground around the gas pumps was slick and icy. An older lady stepped out of her car to pump gas and fell on the ice, breaking her leg. Two men ran to her rescue and called 911, but I wished I could've done something to help her. I was so overwhelmed by the ordeal that I bawled my eyes out once I got in the car. I felt like crap the rest of the day and wondered how that woman was doing. I wanted so bad to check on her and make sure she was ok.

Absolutely Number 2 ('Sensual') without a doubt but also with a bit of the other one that mentioned being prone to substance abuse too. I find it fascinating learning about this subject because I just thought for years growing up that I just didn't 'fit in' although I'm very much a people person (that's the high empathetic traits for you. I have very sensitive skin, cannot abide ANY sort of bad smell, no matter how faint, loud music and lights just drain the absolute life out of me (as well as small talk with most people. the list goes on: )

I don't understand the psychomotor HSPs (adrenaline junkies) and sensory HSPs. If HSPs require less stimulus than others to have an intense experience, why would those people who jump out of planes and eat the finest food be considered HSPs? Wouldn't most HSPs be overwhelmed with intense flavors? (Ok, not all fine food is intense in flavor. But I'd be curious to know if HSPs like blander foods then non-HSPs. An HSP with a sensitive palette might not like habanero peppers)

Usually when you watch videos about HSP the accent is on sensual type. But I am not this one. Looks like I am a mix of Imaginational and Emotional one. For me sometimes it is difficult to differ reality and imagination and also all my emotions echo strongly in my body. This is hard to live with that. But it is better to accept this than to fight with this.
And yes, it is sad that family often doesn't understand and support you: (

My mum told (scolded) me all my life that I was way too sensitive & an over-thinker. I'm glad to have come across your videos in the couple of months.
As for this video, I'm definitely an Intellectual - again, an over-thinker. However, my ability to recall things exactly has been affected by various meds that make me drowsy. I no longer have the sharp memory or thinking power I once had, thanks to meds, pain & other issues.

Im probably a mix between An Orchid Child and Emotional. Im literally so sensitive to everything around me. If somebodys voice slightly raises, even if it isnt about me, I start crying. 4th Grade was the best for me because I had a teacher who understood and helped give me the right environment where I could be comfortable and not cry as much. I also cant handle failure, even in a video game, I get frustrated and cry.

I can relate to the emotional one, basically Ill be perfectly fine, then Ill get sad over something, then once something good changes about that situation, I get happy really quickly. Also, if Im sad and people want to do something with me, my feelings change IMMEDIATELY. Like less than a second. Its not easy being sensitive but I also feel good knowing that there are lots of other people who are like me.

It takes a lot of time, patience and practice to really know myself and work with rather than against and then. holyyy frkn shizzle the things we can do! We're like the x-men, we are among the common people and they don't know we're mutans! Embrace your secret superpower

I feel I am most in the intellectual category as I am known by my friends for overthinking things and I recon the main reason for this is is because I want things to be a accurate as possible, and get irritated if I notice I might not be accurate enough. I side affect of this is that sometimes I get irritated at other people if they organise my things the wrong way.

I used to cry if I was frustrated, (on my job. Got teased for, Taking everything to heart. The teasers more often than not, drowned THEIR feelings with illicit substances and unhealthy romantic habits/choices. Since these were less adaptive, I figured I was better off than they were, in the long run.

I told my psychiatrist I was a HSP. He didnt even know what that was said he never heard of it imagine how that made me feel that something that envelopes my whole being hasnt even been heard of by the person thats treating me, how can you treat somebody that you dont know anything about?

Thank you so much for this video! It was the first time I could ever actually relate to what was being said in a way I have never before. Finding out about the existence of HSPs helped explain a lot to why I am the way I am and why other people don't seem to be the same way.

I have traits of all these categories. Learning about this personality type has been very eye- opening for me. It's helped me understand my relationships with my world and people.

How many of my fellow HSP's can't tolerate the music in this video? Just because it's gotten so easy to add free music to a video doesn't mean it's a good idea.

I wonder if it's possible to be more than one type at once? I found myself relating to the emotional and the intellectual HSP at the same time!

Can you please make a video called 'What Does It Mean To Have more than 1 type of HSP' or something like that, because I have majority of them.

Is HSP an umbrella term for many people lucky enough not to be impaired by ADHD, ASD, OCD, GAD, or other frontal cortex related divergences?
