do you know someone like Draco Malloy from Harry Potter?
I died. I really did. I just dont like Draco cuz he just ticks me off, no offense tho. I honestly dont think Im emotionally immature because I didnt really relate to any of these, and the people that Im close to and know well like me. (I think-; -; ) since I asked them myself: ) theyre exact reviews were:
Im very understanding and a good person to vent to and give good advice, am helpful, tolerant, low-tempered, funny (wait- WHAT, can cure depression, vulnerable and a good friend overall. But I can also be kinda annoying, SUPER ULTRA LEGENDARILY weird and troll a lot: ) (I do that on purpose, I just love funny reactions which of course, doesnt make me much of a better person)
edit: ofc I have wayyyyy more in the downsides than that, but Im not gonna completely expose myself in a place where Im PUBLICLY VISIBLE TO ALL: P

I have this friend who is starting college next year. but tbh Im kinda worried because of how low her emotional maturity is. Like, shell legit hurt her boyfriend mentally in all the places he has scars because she disapproves of the things hes done in the past despite him having worked through them. Could you imagine being reminded of your wrongdoings every single day and get told off and called names for them? She lives in delusions and confronts people about things shes made up about them (based off of one instance that her mind has twisted into something bizarre. She even tried to tell her boyfriend that I hated him based off of my surprised reaction to meeting him for the first time. At this point idk how to help or even have begun to know whats wrong w her. Any advice?

Haven't watched video yet since it's 3 AM and need to go to bed
But is this the same as simply wanting to be younger? Like, I sometimes enjoy reading age regression stories since I see myself in them, wanting to be cute and huggable again. I'm almost done with puberty and I almost look like a full-grown man (low voice and beard and everything, but I'm still into more childish things and am in no hurry to grow up (unlike many of my classmates)
I'm not suffering because of it, it's just an inner wish I have to go back to that time and get to do the things I never got to do, a what if.
There's probably other details I can't think of right now since my brain's shutting down (sleep)

I wish I was just simply emotionally mature enough to blend in and it not be so obvious that I'm immature for my age. I'm 26 going on 27 but I'm emotionally/mentally 12-13, largely as a symptom of my autism. I often even have times where I initially don't remember that I'm an adult and the fact that nobody my age is as kiddish as I am really serves to highlight my emotional development deficiency. The only thing I have going for me is my high IQ, but what good does extensive and esoteric knowledge do for someone who cries loudly everytime she's emotionally overwhelmed and still has hobbies that most people outgrow by high school?

So is using your emotions to guide your actions childish? I mean I use my emotions and my heart to guide my way but I don't exactly get blinded by them and they actually save me from like a lot of bad situations out and helped my friends as well. What I think is that if your heart is in the right place then you can use your emotions to guide you as long as your not being blind to them. Feel free to correct me

Omg this totally makes sense. Ive been dealing with this with my bestfriend for 4 years. And i finally decided to cut her off. I cant do it anymore. She definitely makes me feel bad for having boundaries with her. And she does thrlw tantrums and is easily angered. And she does deflection and can be manipulative to try and get what she wants. she definitely cant keep their emotions in check

Yep. I know someone that you can only talk to about movies, fun, food, music. Even after knowing this person for years you cannot talk to them about anything deep and meaningful. They will get defensive. This person would never admit to having low emotional maturity. She would watch this video and say that it is just one person's opinion and it doesn't mean anything.
reply

This is about conformity not maturity.
All responses are valid yes some are odd problematic even. but they have a purpose, if the response is alienating or unsophisticated
Then why would such effects be elisitited covertly or subliminally.
The result desired by blunt force or manipulation.
That's analmistic
Rude grass but is it really immature.

I have all of these but I have my reasons, like the present of others. It keeps everyone happy and if youre in a emotional state then and you want to do is be happy and draw away from negativity. You dont want to ruin the party with you crying over something people say is something small, yet if were bothered by it, its obviously something big to that person

I had to break up with my first gf (we're both late blooming gays) because of some of these. It was impossible to have important conversations to communicate because she was so avoidant and reluctant to touch on anything emotional.
It sucks because she is such a great person, but just not the right fit for me.

reply

This is basically my dad all around. When I did my coming out, he coundn't even talk to me without insulting me, he tried to manipulate me to convince me that I was the problem, that I was a bad child for making him suffer. That's only one exemple among many other.
reply

So, quick question!
In the event that you have a friend like this, what should you do?
Is there a way to deal with these types of people and lower the emotional damage they cause to you and others in the friend group, or are they a lost cause?

reply

So I will say that I express all of 5 but only in very specific and low moments, it would be like my worst phase. It is like my mental age may vary from 15 being this low to 26 maybe, I am 24 but admit I normally act a bit younger.
reply

The thing is I'm very empathetic when other people are crying or upset, but I can't be empathetic to myself when I'm struggling mentally. I'm comfortable with giving myself a hard time just for struggling
reply

Hmmm my family thinks Im immature. Im probably all of this. I wish I could just change myself or maybe just disappear. I wanna act like people my age but its difficult to be someone youre not

i feel like i'm _very_ emotionally immature because my parents are like you're too mature to understand our pov so I'm here just to change and prove them wrong: )
reply

I'm emotinally immature, cause I always had this negitive view of the adult life. Growing up, I always assumbed adult life would be boring, stressful and alone.
reply

Familiar people with those things at an early age don't let them figure out that on their own it gonna take a lot of time and then it's gonna be too late
reply

In my childhood and adolescence, I was extremely defensive. I used to deflect as well. I was resentful. I had a defeatist and pessimistic attitude.
reply

I'm not manipulative or aggressive. but the rest. I guess I'm emotionally immature. Great, another negative to add to my personality. T_T

School emotionally burns me out since it's telling me to master honors geometry but never said anything about handling stress and emotions
