6 Signs You Have a Growth Mindset

A growth mindset explains talent as a work-in-progress, which opens the door for change and progress. For example, a student with a growth mindset will study for their test because they know theyre still learning new things. On the other hand, a fixed mindset suggests that your talents are set in stone. For example, a student with a fixed mindset may not study for a test, because they believe theyre smart enough already. So, do you have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset? To help you discover that, we've made this video to help you identify the signs you have a growth mindset. Would you like to know more about what makes a mind strong? We also have a video on the signs you have a strong mind

I would add #7. You know how to laugh, especially about your own missteps.
We all make mistakes. Gods know I've made more than my share. I've screwed up more than I've accomplished to date. BUT there's a BIG BIG difference in the two ways someone takes a mistake. If he dwells on it and cries and moans and pitches a fit, swears, and refuses to keep on, he's stuck. He doesn't gain anything. He sinks into a despair about the losses from that one mistake and will pass right by other opportunities because he can't and he thinks he's proven that by screwing up the one time he tried.
On the other hand, if he swears a bit and then gets right back to figure out where it was screwed up and how to fix it, he might be late, but he LEARNS from the problems he created. He then grabs after the next one, laughing about how this job won't mess itself up, but having invented a whole lotta work before and learned from it, he gets it together and finishes just a little bit better and easier. Maybe he still doesn't get it perfect, but he can joke about how Well, it's good enough for government work. AND grabs the next opportunity to try again on something else. Every project taken turns into another surprise package, and either way, he can laugh at his shortcomings, and still just keep growing and learning.
SO don't take yourself or your skill-set too seriously. Life is going to throw you unexpected curve-balls, and you're going to invent work for yourself, come up a few bits of hardware short of finishing a day early or on time, and even manage to screw stuff up royally hopeless once in a while, no matter how good you think you are.
Given a choice to laugh or cry about something, I'll laugh every time. Pancho Barnes (who, frankly, should've been more famous than Amelia Earhardt); o)

Im not sure what mindset I have. I found this chanel on the idea of learning more about myself and otbers. I share my teachings but I very much so dislike teatchers in class room setting. One of the reasons why I droped out. Yet I agree that Im sure was somewhat skilled in math, just in the basics. I love history just not the teachers teaching it. I'm not really sure to be honest. I think I forgot a few point or repeated some but yeah.
reply

In theory I am many of these points but in practice not at all lmao. I actually find many things interesting and want to learn a lot about different topics, but I lack a vast amount of self discipline, responsibility which has turned into major laziness. But I'm trying to improve, because the frustration of living my life passively is going to kill me one day.

I am currently trying my best to cultivate a growth mindset. I know that the transition from fixed to growth mindset is a challenge. But, I am ready to take this challenge and move forward! Thanks psych2go team for making this wonderful video on growth mindset. Looking forward for more wonderful videos!

I used to have a fixed mindset, but over the last year or maybe as recently as the last few months I've noticed I have developed a growth mindset, and I love it. It is so much harder to continue to better myself, but it honestly makes me happier. I love learning new things, I never want to stop: )
reply

I'd like to think I have a growth mindset. But when I paused to read the class example, I thought maybe not lol. I enjoy a challenge but I'm not going to make a 10 hour/day commitment for 1 class. I would must REALLY enjoy the topic and have the ability to take only this class.
reply

I feel like all of these examples are about regular school or something. I know I have a growth mindset, but when it comes to high school, unless I see a point in a class Im taking the easier one so I can spend more time learning about stuff that actually matters to me.

We humans are born from zero and we are constantly growing as our ages also grow. Talents are not fixed, but they are often skills that are learned. That is why, we cannot say enough on everything. We humans are constantly growing and maturing.
reply

Hm.
Hard to tell. I still have a lot to learn and a lot to improve. I still am afraid of failure and can't accept my mistakes easily.
But, that doesn't mean it will always be that way. I can improve and become better, everyone can.

What if a growth mindset teaches you about yourself and your own limitations? I would say I have a growth mindset but I am chronically tired and recognise that I can only do so many things at once before I burnout!
reply

Commenting on this video because I truly believe that growth mindset is an essential factor for your life. I truly believe that I can cultivate this mindset and use it for the greater good.

Why do you need signs for this? You find out what fixed and growth mindsets are and you decide which one you have. Why does somebody have to tell you that? We might as well have a Signs you breathe oxygen
reply

I'm somewhere in the middle in the sense that I like to call myself the best at one thing but that doesn't stop me from learning something else (because I'm not just the best I am THE best)
reply

I feel like i have a growth mindset but schoolwork isn't exactly the best example for myself, i prefer to spend my time on other hobbies rather than worrying about my grades n shit

reply

So what is it if you have both mindsets? Because I do procrastinate and talk down on myself sometimes, but I also still do all of these because. success. you know
reply

I am an ENFP, darling.
I have ALL of these.
Thank you for the video I actually am prepearing for an exam and it made me realise I can do better!

reply

For me (and how my mind is) it really depends if I actually want to do it or I find it in myself to do it, instead of being forced to by other people.
reply

Wow! You have given such a great information.
I just have a question
Is there any age when people get grown mindset? If so when?
